Vincent van Gogh’s “Portrait of Dr. Gachet,” painted just weeks before his suicide, is one of his most prized works. The painting sold at auction in 1990 for $82.5 million — a record at the time — and experts say the work may now be worth $300 million or more. But since selling to a private collector, it has all but disappeared, and the work’s whereabouts have become one of the art world’s greatest mysteries. A team of The New York Times reporters went on a mission to find the masterpiece. Here's what they found: https://lnkd.in/dkUJArfR #myCulture #ArtNews #lostartwork #vangogh

We came across this incredible story of the young Afghan woman Hasina Akbari (darya) who defied all odds to chase her dreams amidst unimaginable challenges. From a society with rigid constraints, she emerged as a trailblazer—breaking barriers, educating herself, and advocating for change. This is more than a personal success; it’s a testament to the power of education, perseverance, and the human spirit. It’s a reminder of why creating opportunities for everyone matters, no matter where they come from. At myCulture, we believe in the transformative power of art and stories like this to connect people, foster empathy, and celebrate diverse voices. Stories shape how we see the world—and our goal is to ensure that everyone has a platform to share theirs. What’s a story that’s recently inspired you? #myCulture #Inspiration #EmpowermentThroughArt #CulturalConnection #DiversityMatters #BreakingBarriers

𝟭𝟱% 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱’𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 —1 billion people — live with a disability, yet fewer than 10% of museums worldwide are fully accessible. Shocking, right? Despite their potential to inspire and educate, many cultural institutions inadvertently exclude millions due to barriers like inaccessible layouts, lack of inclusive signage, or limited sensory-friendly programs. This needs to change. Art and culture should unite, not divide. Thankfully, some museums are leading the way: the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, for example, was designed with accessibility at its core, offering audio, visual, and tactile experiences for all visitors. At myCulture, we believe accessibility is non-negotiable. By working with museums, we aim to make cultural spaces welcoming for everyone—because art belongs to us all. How can we collectively ensure no one is left behind? Let’s discuss! #myCulture #IDPD2024 #DisabilityInclusion #AccessibleMuseums #InclusionMatters #BarrierFreeAccess #CulturalAccessibility #ArtForEveryone #DiversityAndInclusion #EqualAccess photo ©️Ian McCausland/CMHR

🎯 How can museums attract and engage the 18–30 age group? Connecting with young art enthusiasts has long been a challenge for museums. In our latest article for the Austrian Museums Association (Museumsbund Österreich), Olivia Harrer, Head of Marketing at MAK - Museum für angewandte Kunst, shares her perspective: "𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘺𝘊𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘶𝘮𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘥𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯." 📖 The article (in German) provides valuable insights for marketing managers and cultural institutions looking to strengthen their connection with younger audiences. 🔗 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dDwqWWJ2 #myCulture #Museums #CulturalMarketing #MuseumInnovation #AudienceEngagement

The cultural landscape of Europe is undergoing a transformation, as highlighted in the latest report from the NEMO - Network of European Museum Organisations. This comprehensive analysis sheds light on the challenges and opportunities faced by the cultural sector and how museums can adapt to evolving societal needs. The report emphasizes the urgent need for museums to embrace their role as agents of change, especially in areas like sustainability, digital transformation, and inclusivity. Some key takeaways include: 🌿Sustainability and Climate Action: Museums have a critical role in driving sustainability and engaging with climate policies. Yet, only a small percentage are actively involved in policy discussions or aware of climate policies that address them. NEMO encourages museums to use their platforms to inspire change and engage with policymakers to advocate for their needs. The report even includes a seven-step guide for museums to take political action in sustainability efforts. 📲 Digital Transformation: While digitization offers immense potential to increase access and visibility, the report reveals persistent challenges such as insufficient funding, staff shortages, and legal uncertainties. Less than 20% of European museum collections are accessible online, highlighting the need for greater investment and skill development in this area. 🌈 Inclusivity and Diversity: Museums are urged to reflect and serve the diverse communities they represent. By re-evaluating collections and making exhibition texts accessible to wider audiences, they can break down barriers and foster inclusivity. NEMO’s report not only identifies these gaps but also provides actionable recommendations to empower museums as hubs of innovation, education, and sustainability. With support from policymakers, funders, and networks like NEMO, museums can fully realize their potential as catalysts for positive societal impact. At myCulture, we’re inspired by this vision and remain committed to helping museums and cultural institutions connect with diverse audiences through digital tools. By collaborating with platforms like ours, museums can take a step closer to achieving these transformative goals. 🌟 Highlights from our visit to CultTech Summit 2024 🌟 We’re excited to share some inspiring moments from CultTech Summit, where we engaged in discussions around technology, culture, and social innovation. Here are the key sessions that aligned with our vision at myCulture to foster inclusivity, sustainability, and cultural connectivity: 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲: 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 This panel discussion brought together inspiring voices like Ana Alvarez (Migrapreneur ®), Kave Bulambo (She/Her) (BlackInTech Berlin), and Christoph Hassler (H:DEi). Moderated by Rashid Owoyele (Transekt Agency), the session explored the importance of diversity and addressing privilege in tech and creative industries, aligning perfectly with myCulture’s mission to create a more inclusive platform for all artists. 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝘆: 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝘀 𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 We were captivated by this talk on how arts and culture can drive sustainable change, featuring Tugce Akbulut (What Design Can Do), José Luis de Vicente (Disseny Hub Barcelona), and Kenan Zekić (INDi+E). The panel highlighted the critical role of cultural initiatives in sustainable development, a value we’re committed to at myCulture as we support eco-conscious artists and sustainable practices. 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀’ 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿: "𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗦𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗠𝗲" 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 We were fortunate to have artist Alexandra Dementieva guide us through the fascinating exhibition alongside works by Aernoudt Jacobs and the artistic group Where Dogs Run. The interactive artworks prompted reflection on our evolving sensory experiences in the digital age—a theme that resonates with our mission to explore the impact of digital transformation on cultural expression. Attending CultTech Summit reinforced our commitment to using technology as a bridge for cultural understanding, social innovation, and sustainability. We look forward to bringing these insights back to myCulture and continuing to empower diverse artistic communities. #myCulture #CultTechSummit #DEIA #innovation #CulturalInnovation #Inclusivity #Sustainability #ArtAndTech CultTech Association

myCulture x 𝗦𝗢𝗛𝗢 𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗗𝗜𝗢𝗦: A Partnership for Climate Justice Through Art ✨ We are proud to support SOHO in Ottakring’s annual exhibition, "A Collective Journey Towards Climate Justice: Learning and Acting Together." This collaborative exhibition unites art and activism, inviting visitors to reflect on the connections between social and ecological justice. myCulture is bringing the experience closer to the public by sharing exclusive content on Instagram, including behind-the-scenes insights, artist interviews, and live coverage from the opening night. Each of the five exhibition projects tells a unique story—from Susana Ojeda's "Collective Joy in Resistance," which presents art as a form of activism, to David Osthoff’s multimedia exploration of Indigenous time perspectives in "SIONA – Journey into the Present." Visitors can also take part in the "COMMON GROUND Braiding Sessions" and learn more about coexisting with nature through projects like "Beaver Lab." “This exhibition brings art and the urgency of climate justice together in a truly meaningful way,” says Vera L. B. Grablechner, MA, Founder & CEO at myCulture. Ula Schneider, Founder and Curator at SOHO STUDIOS adds, "Our collaboration with myCulture helps make these critical conversations accessible to a wider audience, sparking awareness and action." We’re thrilled to work alongside SOHO STUDIOS to share these artistic voices that resonate with the most pressing issues of our time. . . .
