Sun Bear Cub Rescued from Trafficking in Vietnam 🚨🐻 In August, Sun Bear cub Anuk arrived at our BEAR SANCTUARY Ninh Binh in a critical state, suffering from severe dehydration. Believed to be smuggled from Laos and intercepted by Vietnamese police, she was found in a taxi at a bus station en route to Southern Vietnam. It is possible that the trader intended to illegally bring her out of the country and sell her off to buyers in Russia or the Middle East. However, thanks to swift action by the authorities and the care of our dedicated team, her life was saved. 👮 Estimated to be no more than 60 days old at the time of rescue, Anuk required intensive care, including round-the-clock feeding and veterinary attention. Now, Anuk has transformed into a healthy, playful and curious cub. 💗 Although Anuk was spared a life of exploitation, she will remain at our sanctuary forever. Without her mother and given the lack of rehabilitation programs or safe habitats for bears in Vietnam, releasing her into the wild is simply not an option. Anuk, whose name means “bear” in Greenlandic, is the only Sun Bear at the sanctuary and has recently ventured into her outdoor enclosure. True to her species, she’s already showing off her climbing skills and exploring her new surroundings. 🌴🐾 She may have faced a heartbreaking start, but her future is filled with care, love, and safety. 🍀💛 #SunBear #Bear #AnimalWelfare #Rescue #Vietnam #BEARSANCTUARYNinhBinh

At FOUR PAWS, we recognize that caring for animals is deeply rewarding yet uniquely challenging work. That’s why we recently hosted a session on Compassion Fatigue, to support our colleagues’ emotional resilience and wellbeing. 💪 Our dedicated team invited colleagues tackling especially difficult topics, including the dog and cat meat trade as well as sanctuary staff who face the emotional toll of dealing with illnesses and losses of animals in their care. Together, they shared their experiences, creating an open and empathetic space for dialogue. 💬 Our colleagues shared valuable techniques to manage compassion fatigue and promote sustainable self-care, addressing the challenges many of our staff face daily in animal rescue, shelter work, and advocacy. 🌱 We’re grateful to everyone who joined us. Together we’re building a supportive community that cares for both people and animals! 🐾 #FOURPAWSlife #CompassionFatigue #AnimalWelfare #EmployeeWellbeing #MentalHealth

Animal welfare never leaves our daily agenda 📝 Our colleagues' shared dedication to animal welfare and the protection of these animals is inspiring and why many of our colleagues join us in our mission. I joined FOUR PAWS because... "...of my deep passion for preserving the natural world, this organization was a perfect fit, allowing me to make a tangible impact on the lives of animals.” - Ayanda Xulu 🌳 "...of the organisation's vision as animal welfare was a new concept for Vietnamese people 7.5 years ago.” - Huong Ngo Mai 🇻🇳 "...I appreciate the approach of working on both an individual animal level, as well as working on policy to affect change on a broader level.” - Ariane Aquilina 🌍 "...I was inspired by the passion to improve animal welfare worldwide. I wanted to join this group of change makers to achieve the necessary goals regardless how impossible they seemed.” - Nina Jamal 🚀 Worldwide animal protection is our day to day! 🐾 Want it to be yours? Live Lamb Cutting: The Hidden Cruelty Behind Merino Wool 🐑💔 In Australia, millions of merino lambs—just 2 to 12 weeks old—are subjected to a brutal procedure called live lamb cutting (or mulesing). This process involves cutting strips of skin and flesh from their buttocks to reduce the risk of flystrike, often without any pain relief. ✂️ This isn’t just uncomfortable—it’s excruciating. These lambs endure open wounds that take weeks to heal, with hundreds of thousands dying as a result of this painful procedure. 🩸 This cruel practice continues, even though pain-free alternatives exist. 🐑 It’s time to stand up for these vulnerable animals and demand change. This holiday season, spend wisely. Check out our Wear It Kind Directory, to discover brands that prioritise animal welfare and avoid cruel practices like live lamb cutting: https://lnkd.in/dxFS7k_B #BeTheirVoice #BanLiveLambCutting #AnimalWelfare #EthicalFashion

Corinna Reinisch is our ‘Moo-ver and Shaker’ when it comes to driving change for farm animal welfare! 🐄 As our Programme Lead Farm Animal Welfare, Corinna inspires political progress for animal welfare in Europe and beyond. She does this by developing impactful campaigns that bring our message to the forefront of policy makers and society. She has led the campaigns to: ❌🚚 End cruel transports of animals. ❌ ⛓ End caged farming practices. ✅ 🌱 Promote public vendors to purchase animal-based products with a higher animal welfare standard and offer plant based alternatives. Corinna has joined many FOUR PAWS actions with pictures showing her marching for an end to factory farming, running to #StopCruelWool and wearing an egg costume to symbolise the millions of male chicks that were killed in the DACH region immediately after hatching in 2014. 🐣 "Although it can be quite challenging to continue the fight when legislative changes are slow and we are faced with setbacks, we need to stay courageous and continue fighting for the good cause," says Corinna. With colleagues like her leading the way, we can create a world where we #DoBetterForAnimals and ensure that they have a life worth living. After more than 10 years working for FOUR PAWS, where she has championed animal welfare, Corinna advises animal welfare activists “not to be discouraged if things don't immediately go your way, but to share ideas with like-minded people and keep fighting for what you believe in!” Your love for animals is truly an inspiration, thank you for all your hard work Corinna! #StoryTelling #FOURPAWSlife #Kudos #MakingAnImpact #AnimalWelfare

From Aviary to Freedom: A Rehabilitation Success for 20 Owls ✨ At our OWL AND BIRDS OF PREY RESCUE STATION in Haringsee, 20 young long-eared owls recently completed their journey from care to freedom. These foundlings, brought to the station for various reasons, received expert rehabilitation to prepare them for life in the wild. Our approach is grounded in innovation and collaboration. Our resident owls of the same species help raise and educate the young patients. This is an approach that has been long used at the station and has lead to many success stories. ⭐ After weeks of strengthening their wings in a large release aviary, they were now ready for flight. These nocturnal creatures were released at dusk—a time that aligns with their natural behaviors. Now, they are ready to embrace their lives in the wild.🌳🌙 We are proud and happy to highlight the critical role of expertise, innovation and care that our Haringsee team provides, to give these remarkable birds a second chance at life. #AnimalWelfare #Owls #SuccessStories 📸: © VIER PFOTEN

Rabies Remains a Deadly Threat in Indonesia 🦠🇮🇩 According to the World Health Organization, between January and July of 2024 alone, 71 people have succumbed to this preventable disease. More than 36,000 cases of dog bites have been reported in Bali, a global tourist destination. Rabies was detected in 268 of these cases, out of which five were fatal. The heartbreaking truth in those numbers is that it was completely avoidable, as rabies is entirely curable if treated in time. 💔 With 98% of human cases stemming from dog bites, controlling outbreaks requires vaccinating at least 70% of the animal population in an area. Unfortunately, due to the large stray dog population the threat of infection across species is increased. Moreover, the ongoing illicit dog and cat meat trade in Southeast Asia prevents efforts to control the disease by depleting healthy and vaccinated populations. 💉 Together with our partners at Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA), we work to provide vaccinations for dogs and cats and neutering services to manage populations. 🐕 Raising awareness about rabies prevention and responsible pet ownership is essential to protecting Bali's free-roaming dogs. 🌴 Learn more about our work in Indonesia here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dJt7Ed6j © FOUR PAWS | Bali Animal Welfare Association #Rabies #Bali #SoutheastAsia #ResponsiblePetOwnership

Animal Welfare Through the Eyes of Children 🐾✨ Last month, FOUR PAWS proudly hosted Bring Your Kids to Work Day! Held at our Vienna headquarters, this special day reflected our commitment to creating a parent-friendly workplace, where work-life balance truly matters. 👨👩👧👦 On this day, there was no shortage of activities. From an educational Animal Sounds Quiz to baking delicious biscuits for their pet dogs, the day was full of fun, learning, and discovering! 🎉 This year’s highlight was an interactive deep dive into LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary. The big surprise? Our curious participants received a live virtual view of the sanctuary with insights on their most beloved big cats and a caretaker answering all of their burning questions! 🦁 By opening our doors, this day created connections and a bond with the little ones and their guardians. It helped them understand the importance of our work and maybe even start dreams of a career dedicated to animal welfare. 💭 Seeing the joy and curiosity in our young visitors reinforced why we do what we do – not just for the animals, but for the future we’re building for the next generation. 👧👦 #FOURPAWSlife #BringYourKidsToWorkDay #WorkLifeBalance #FamilyFriendly
