We are excited to announce a strategic collaboration between Project STOP and Accenture Song 🌟 Accenture is supporting the scale up of the ongoing Project STOP Banyuwangi Hijau program in East Java, Indonesia with the development and implementation of the Project STOP Banyuwangi Hijau App. ♻️ This innovative app marks an important contribution to transforming waste management in Indonesia by digitizing processes, enhancing accountability and optimizing waste management operations. The app has already reached nearly 30,000 households, with plans to expand to 377,000, and aims to improve customer registration, fee collection and route optimization in low-connectivity rural areas, thus supporting Project STOP’s broader mission to create comprehensive, economically sustainable waste management systems in Southeast Asia at scale and by doing so addressing the root causes for ocean plastics and mismanaged waste. Promoting innovative ideas that drive positive change in the industry is the key focus of the annual Borealis Scientific Innovation Award (BSIA). With her work “Development of a solvent based recycling process for agricultural film”, Elisabetta Carrieri from Ghent University did just that, demonstrating that optimization and scaling up of the solvent based recycling process can significantly increase the sustainability of operations. Join us in congratulating Elisabetta on her second-place award and her innovative contribution to the sustainability of plastics! As a member of the Business Coalition for a Global Plastics Treaty, we urge governments to make a choice. A treaty based on voluntary measures alone will not end plastic pollution and will only exacerbate the fragmented regulatory environment that business is facing. Rule 3: Bypassing Safety Controls ⚠️ Safety critical elements (SCEs) such as flame detection systems, pressure sensors, and emergency shutdown systems prevent major accidents. Servicing SCEs requires bypassing safety controls, which should only be done under specific circumstances and must always be authorized. It is crucial that the safety procedures in such situations are followed carefully and only for specified and limited time periods. #BorealisSafety #LifeSavingRules
