Viennese café and pastry shop brand Aïda has opened its debut overseas airport venue at Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport under a franchise agreement with global travel restaurateur SSP Group plc. Aïda Executive Director Dominik Prousek, the fourth-generation leader of the family business, has kept in close touch with The Moodie Davitt Report in the lead up to this landmark Middle East opening. Today, a dream came true, we’ve officially opened AÏDA in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, bringing a slice of Vienna’s charm, culture, and tradition 3,644 kilometers from home. It’s the largest AIDA Café- Konditorei in the world today with 284 square meters and over 150 seats open daily 24 hours. AÏDA is part of my family’s identity, a legacy that began in 1913, when my great grandfather established the world’s first coffee shop chain in Vienna. For over a century, AÏDA has been a symbol of Viennese tradition, innovation, and hospitality, with each generation my family adding their own chapter to its story. Today, I am honored to continue that journey by introducing our Viennese coffee specialties and pastry creations to the world. This wouldn’t have been possible without the shared vision and support of SSP Group plc A heartfelt thank you to Patrick Coveney Mark Knowlden Mark Angela Tomas de Prat Gay and Paul Passmore for supporting this dream and partnering with me to make it a reality. Together, we’ve built something extraordinary, a café in Jeddah that serves not just handmade pastries, over 40 coffee specialties, and phenomenal food, but a story, one of family, culture, and history. To Michalakis Georgiou, Dimitrios Grivas Timotheos Timotheou Mahmoudgomaa Gomaa and the entire SSP operational team, your expertise and dedication have been the driving force behind this project. You, along with our talented baristas, chefs, and service staff have brought AÏDA to life in a way that exceeded all expectations. I also want to express my gratitude to the AÏDA opening team, Philipp Kozak, Ali Najah and everyone who traveled from Vienna to Jeddah. Your passion, hard work, and commitment to excellence have infused this store with the pink heart and soul of AÏDA. You didn’t just bring knowledge; you brought Vienna’s essence to the Middle East. AÏDA has always been about more than coffee or pastries. It’s about family, legacy, and creating an experience. We are an ambassador of Viennese culture, a story we are now sharing with the world. Jeddah marks the start of AÏDA’s journey beyond Europe, and we can’t wait to light up even more pink hearts as we bring the AÏDA experience to new places and new people. Lagardère Travel Retail has partnered with famous Viennese brand Aïda to unveil a first-of-its-kind hybrid store at Berlin Central Station. The 250sq m space in Germany’s fourth-busiest train station combines a Relay convenience outlet with an Aïda coffee and pastry shop.
