Ninety years later, we have grown across seven countries and three continents, with more than 15,000 employees – to be at the forefront of sustainable mining and infrastructure services. As 2024 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on 80 years of Thiess’ legacy in the Hunter Valley, which began with open-cut operations at Muswellbrook Coal Mine in 1944. Today, Thiess Rehabilitation is proud to deliver technology-led post-mining land restoration at the Muswellbrook site, which is making significant progress. As we conclude our 90th anniversary, we’re proud to mark this milestone with a special moment at Mt Arthur South — the commissioning of a Thiess90 Liebherr R 9600. This historic occasion highlights decades of collaboration between Thiess and Liebherr Mining with over 80 Liebherr machines operating across our sites globally. Together, we’ve driven innovation, with Thiess playing a key role in the development of flagship Liebherr excavators like the R 996, R 9600 and the R 9800, enhancing productivity and efficiency for the mining industry. #Thiess90 #Liebherr #Thiess

Тийссийн нийт 10 ажилтан биечлэн очсон ч арын албанд байсан хүмүүстэйгээ нийлээд 20 гаруй хүн уг шинэ жилийг зохион байгуулахад оролцсон. --- Last Sunday, Thiess volunteers with support of RIGS project at Oyu Tolgoi in Mongolia bought festive cheer for over 50 children at the 'Unur Bul' centre, which is home to children aged 3–12, including orphans and those needing special care.  The day was filled with joy, featuring a fairy-tale performance, arts and crafts, games, dancing, gifts from Santa, and a festive countdown. The team was proud to come together to make the celebration memorable for every child.

The Thiess team in Western Australia have supported the Child and Parent Centre Midvale Hub in Swan since 2018, with a Hamper Drive providing non-perishable food items for families in need. An overwhelming generous reponse from our people again this year providing festive treats, food items, financial contributions and their time to fill hampers and share some joy with others this festive season. A special mention to Andrew Doyle and the Hazelmere administration team for making this happen.

Thiess is committed to the highest health and safety standards for our workforce. Leading by example, the Muswellbrook Coal Rehabilitation Project team recently achieved the significant milestone of 500 consecutive days without a reportable incident. This incident-free record has been maintained since the beginning of the project, reflecting the team's dedication to safety and meticulous attention to detail from day one.   Thiess Muswellbrook Coal Rehabilitation Site Manager, Wayne Bartlett said: "I'm so proud of our team for achieving this milestone of remaining recordable injury-free since the start of our operation. Our team understands the environment we are working in and the controls we have in place that minimise risks to health and safety. Well done to all those working at Muswellbrook Coal Rehabilitation".

This month, we launched our mentoring pilot program at Lake Vermont as part of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) commitments, focused on supporting Indigenous employees and addressing barriers in remote areas. Guided by Indigenous engagement specialist Petina Tieman, the first training session covered cultural nuances, mentoring skills, and career advancement strategies.
