Luis Tavares captured the raw power and grandeur of EDP's Carrapatelo power plant, located in Cinfães, in this striking black and white image. As a member of the SecOps/Offensive Security team, Luís visited the plant for a security audit, but his photographer's eye couldn't resist immortalising the moment. "The power plants are still the mirror and image of the strength and size of the EDP Group," explains Luís. This photo shows the immensity of our operations and the dramatic beauty of industrial architecture. At EDP, we don't just generate electricity - we power a sustainable future. Join us in celebrating the backbone of our energy transformation. #EDPWeChooseEarth #AllGreen2030 #EnergyTransition #EDPGlobalLens

EDP and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have signed two loans to support renewable energy projects, aligning with the REPowerEU objective of enhancing energy security and accelerating the energy transition in the EU. The first loan, amounting to €500 million, will facilitate renewable energy generation through solar photovoltaic and onshore wind plants in Portugal, Spain, and Italy. This initiative contributes to EDP’s goal of adding 18 GW of renewable capacity by 2026. The second loan, totaling €200 million, is designated for expanding, developing, and digitalising EDP’s power grids in Spain and Portugal. As EDP’s CFO Rui Teixeira, stated, “These loans revive the long-term relationship between EDP and EIB and are totally aligned with the Group’s financial policy to extend the average maturity of its debt portfolio, reinforcing its financial flexibility”. Floating solar panels are an innovative and versatile solution for energy production. Since the water cools down the solar panels, the energy production is also more efficient, adding one more bonus point to its implementation. In APAC, EDP's 5 MWp Offshore Floating Solar PV Platform along the Straits of Johor is an innovative method used to overcome the issue of land scarcity in Singapore. Meanwhile, in Alqueva, Portugal, EDP's floating solar plant uses the same grid connection point as the reservoir, therefore promoting hybridization. Step by step and panel by panel we are building a more sustainable future, with renewable energy for everyone. ⚡🌎 #EDPWeChooseEarth #AllGreen2030 #EnergyTransition

🗳️ Next week, #EU political parties will decide their position ahead of the expected parliament resolution on the “automotive crisis”, sending a political signal on Europe’s #mobility transition. The message from the #EVcharging industry is clear: Policy predictability is key. Sticking to 2035 emissions targets will keep Europe on track to see macroeconomic growth from our sector. 💼 222,000 jobs by 2035 📈 €92 billion added to the EU’s economy 🔌 64 million #EV chargers installed across Europe These milestones are within reach, but we need to stay the course. We urge policymakers to make the right choice for Europe’s future: Stick to 2035 targets. Don’t turn back now. This year's COP29 Azerbaijan in Baku delivered critical progress but also exposed areas where much more work is needed. EDP has been an active participant in the global meeting since Paris in 2015, and continues to contribute to a positive and constructive debate to accelerate the green energy transition. EDP’s team takeaways from Baku rely on 5 essential points of action: 🔨 Scaling renewables and grids While the global commitment to triple renewable energy by 2030 (#3xRenewables) was reaffirmed, turning ambition into action requires national solid energy plans, effective policy frameworks, grid infrastructure and storage investment. The pledge to double grid investments and increase storage sixfold is a positive step, but we must accelerate implementation. 🪙 Financing for the transition The new climate finance deal aims to mobilise $300 billion annually for developing countries by 2035. Multilateralism continues to be a crucial element in advancing climate initiatives. Still, the $1.3 trillion target of public and private funding, aiming to strengthen resilience against climate disasters, finance renewable energy projects, and support sustainable development pathways seems still far off. 🛑 Ending the fossil fuel era Although COP29 did not commit explicitly to phasing out fossil fuels, the momentum for clean energy is undeniable. Businesses across the globe are adopting clean technologies not only as a climate necessity but also as an economic opportunity. 🌍 Collaborating to overcome challenges Concerns of developing nations, least developed countries (LDCs), and small island developing states (SIDS) need to be addressed regarding their perceptions of the financial agreement's inadequacies. 🌳 Committing to the planet EDP is firmly committed to the global goals of the Paris Agreement. We strive to be all-green by 2030 and achieve net-zero by 2040, and these discussions reinforce the significance of our vision towards clean energy, grid resilience, and innovative solutions. The Group is now looking ahead to COP30 in Belem, Brazil. Governments, businesses, and civil society need to deliver on the promises made, through bold action, clear frameworks, and unprecedented cooperation. #EDPWeChooseEarth #COP29 #CleanEnergy #ClimateFinance
