💡 Meeting society’s energy needs means having diverse energy sources and the ability to store it! With more than 150,000 solar modules and 100 MW capacity, Lithuania’s largest solar park in Molėtai significantly boosts country’s solar generation. Another plant in Anykščiai boasts a capacity of 65 MW – enough to power 24,000 households. And to store all that power? Lithuania has the largest battery storage facility in the EU, distributed in four parks across the country with a total capacity of 200 MWh. The EUR 109 million project ensures a stable supply to the national grid until alternative power sources kick in. Meanwhile, a hydrogen production plant in the seaport of Klaipėda will open in 2026. Producing up to 500 kg of eco-friendly hydrogen to refuel ships, cars, trucks and buses at a nearby filling station. Lithuania is getting ever closer to becoming climate-neutral! 🌱

The new technology takes kinetic energy from the impact of stacking shipping containers and converts it into compressed-air energy. This can be used for powerlifting gear, braking systems and more. With millions of shipping containers used at seaports worldwide, The new technology could provide a vast source of untapped energy. Congratulations to the team. And Thank You for enabling students to gain experience as future innovators! 🎓
