It’s been a long year—366 days, to be exact—but one full of milestones worth celebrating! 🦄 As we reflect on 2024, we’re grateful for the extraordinary achievements made possible by our startups, co-investors, and partners. Together, we’ve built momentum in deep tech, dual-use, and life sciences, laying the groundwork for even greater things in 2025.  Here are a few highlights from the year:  🔹 Closed our €15M fund with support from incredible LPs like NATO Innovation Fund (NIF) and ILTE Lietuva.   🔹 Facilitated 300+ hours of workshops, empowering innovators to take their ideas further.   🔹 Celebrated success with our co-investors: Coinvest Capital, Lithuanian Business Angel Network LitBAN, Finnish Business Angels Network (FiBAN), DEPO Ventures, Iron Wolf Capital, Lemonade Stand, Estonian Business Angels Network (EstBAN) and many, many more. Janiina is a force of nature in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. A startup founder turned investor, she brings a wealth of experience in strategic marketing and communications, having held roles as a CMO, marketing lead, and most recently, as an Investment Director at Vendep Capital. From scaling startups to steering listed companies, Janiina has done it all. In addition to her role at BSV Ventures, Janiina serves as a Senior Advisor for Strategic Initiatives at Helsinki Partners, further strengthening her connections across the Nordic ecosystem. Her impact goes beyond business. An avid mountaineer and a published author, Janiina embodies resilience, creativity, and determination – all qualities that align perfectly with BSV Ventures’ spirit. Based in Helsinki, she will also play a critical role in expanding our presence in the Finnish and Nordic ecosystems. Staying the same might feel safe, but it’s the risks you take that shape your future. Six years ago, when we launched Baltic Sandbox, we had a vision: to create a local “sandbox” by the Baltic Sea – a place for founders to play, experiment, and get their first footing in the startup world. Our logo, with its little grains of sand, represented those early steps, each grain symbolizing the building blocks of new ideas and fresh energy. We’ve loved every bit of that identity. Over time, Baltic Sandbox birthed a new organisation: Baltic Sandbox Ventures, following our growth from an accelerator to a fund that backs ambitious founders. As we’ve evolved, so has our mission. We realized it was time to step beyond the Sandbox and embrace a new name that reflects who we’ve become. Imagine chasing the impossible — not because it’s easy, but because it’s the only path worth taking. BSV Ventures, once Baltic Sandbox Ventures, has transformed its name and vision to reflect just that. Inspired by the ancient challenge of “squaring the circle,” an ancient math puzzle where people tried to make a perfect square with the same area as a given circle using only a ruler and compass — a problem proven to be impossible, yet it symbolizes the daring pursuit of what seems unachievable. BSV Ventures is here for the dreamers and doers who don’t wait for permission to redefine what's possible. One of the many things that the acronym "BSV" stands for is the moment when the fund invests in innovators pushing the edge of science and technology: *Beyond Scientific Validation*. BSV Ventures invests in innovations from bold scientific visionaries, building on scalable breakthroughs that reshape the future — and are here to support their journey. The Baltic Sandbox name will remain close to home, living on with the Lithuanian accelerator, where a dedicated team runs incubation and pre-acceleration programs for early-stage founders right here on our shores. As for our fund, from now on, we’re BSV Ventures. With this new name, we’re opening a new chapter. There’s much more to share – stay tuned for exciting announcements this week!

Three days at the Deep Tech CEE Summit & Challenge CEE Summit 2024 in Warsaw, and what an experience! 🌟 Our team is just back from two inspiring days in Warsaw, where the energy around deep tech and innovation was off the charts! This year’s Summit wasn’t just an event; it felt like a glimpse into the future of Central and Eastern Europe, powered by some of the brightest minds in tech. When our General Partner, Sandra Golbreich, took the stage to talk “Dual-Use Potential,” the room was captivated. She shared our latest market insights, painting a picture of how technologies like AI, cybersecurity, and advanced materials aren’t just transforming industries, they’re fortifying national security too. The investment potential she highlighted left founders and investors buzzing. On day three, it was time for our Venture Partner, Walid O. El Cheikh, to dive into “The Entrepreneurial Mindset.” He brought a message that resonated with every deep tech founder in the room: innovation needs business instincts to thrive. Walid’s insights, drawn from his global coaching experience, left the crowd motivated and ready to build. Beyond the talks, our analysts, Eglė Jašinskaitė and Jokubas Karnauskas, were in full networking mode, meeting founders, investors, and tech enthusiasts from across the region.
