"The challenge we face with climate change requires significant computational capacity. AI will be a valuable asset in tackling this issue." Esko Aho, former Prime Minister of Finland (1991-1995), articulated this vital point during #ISIF2024 thematic session on 'AI & Green Technology for Progress and Development'. His insights highlight the essential role of artificial intelligence in addressing the pressing challenges of climate change. As we strive for sustainable solutions, leveraging AI's capabilities can help us model complex environmental systems and optimise our responses. Let us embrace this technology as we work towards a greener future together.

During #ISIF2024 thematic session titled “United Nations Summit of the Future, the Future of Global Governance,” Wang Wen, Dean of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies (RDCY), emphasised the urgent need for global cooperation in achieving peace. He stated, "We must come together to coordinate efforts for peace—so far, we’ve failed. Russia was excluded from the peace summit, and China has made it clear it doesn’t seek to be a global superpower like the U.S., China's priority is economic recovery and fostering multilateralism." This highlights the critical importance of inclusive dialogue and collaboration among nations to effectively address global challenges.

The Members and Secretariat of Club de Madrid deeply regret the passing of our Honorary Member Jimmy Carter. We value his legacy in favor of peace, human rights and the advancement of democracy, a work that is now more necessary than ever. He will be especially remembered for defending human rights around the world, which led to his being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. A prize that the Swedish academy decided to award him “for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development”. The trajectory of a historical figure like Jimmy Carter is overwhelming and Club de Madrid has always been very proud to have him as one of its Honorary Members. Carter’s membership in our organization is just another example of his commitment to human rights and democracy that, like him, we defend every day. Club de Madrid would like to send its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Jimmy Carter and extend them to all the American people, who have undoubtedly lost an incomparable figure who dedicated his life to peace, democracy and human rights. 🌍"The good news is that the need for major transformation is being recognized. If UN budget discussions align with the institution’s 56 agreements, there’s hope—if not, there isn’t. An integrated system to measure and monitor transformation is essential to drive the change we need." - Kőrösi Csaba, 77th President of the United Nations General Assembly. During the thematic session at #ISIF2024 titled ‘United Nations Summit of the Future, the Future of Global Governance’, Kőrösi emphasised the critical role of integrated systems in achieving meaningful change. As we navigate complex global challenges, aligning our efforts with established agreements is vital for progress. Let’s work together to ensure that our actions today pave the way for a sustainable and equitable future.

"China has shown greater responsibility than international institutions like the IMF. Today, the UN is no longer functioning effectively. It’s time for more action and fewer words.” - Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle, former President of Chile. In a world where global challenges are mounting, this statement resonates deeply. The role of emerging powers like China in addressing global issues cannot be overlooked, especially when traditional institutions struggle to adapt. Let's advocate for a collaborative approach that emphasises accountability and tangible results. It’s time to rethink how we engage on the global stage and ensure that our actions reflect our commitments. #ISIF2024

In today's rapidly evolving technological landscape, Boris Tadić's words resonate deeply: “Technological transformation will have a profound impact on everyone. The key question is whether humanity can adapt.” As we embrace innovation, it's evident that younger generations are often more adept at navigating these changes, while older generations may struggle to keep pace. This generational divide presents both challenges and opportunities in our workplaces and communities. To bridge this gap, we must foster an environment of collaboration and learning. Let’s commit to supporting each other through this transformation, ensuring that everyone—regardless of age—can contribute to and benefit from our increasingly tech-driven world.
