Geologists at wellsites are examples of balancing urgency with the need for geological accuracy. It’s in routine for Wellsite Geologists to deliver accurate data with very short timelines. For that one need to have enough experience and knowledge to manage things. Time is the key for Operations, sometimes you need to make a decision instantly without wasting a single minute. Sometimes a delay of just few minutes leads to miss the core point/ casing point and cost the company millions of dollars. So wellsite geologists must be skill full and well aware of the geological drilling order to run the job accurately, effectively and urgently.
-
Always go by about 75-80% accuracy to meet your delivery deadlines. Nobody expects a 100% solution, which would be suspicious anyway in geology.
-
Balancing urgency with geological accuracy involves prioritizing critical tasks, automating routine processes, and collaborating with team members to share the workload. Quality control is essential, with focused reviews on high-impact areas to catch potential inaccuracies before final submission. Setting clear expectations with stakeholders helps manage deadlines and ensures they understand any constraints on depth or areas needing follow-up. This approach allows for a high level of geological accuracy while meeting project timelines effectively.
-
We should go with at least 80 to 90 percent solution and accuracy. To do this, whole team should have worked together with full focus to meet the deadline. Here the team leader plays a vital role and should smart play in balancing the situation.

Labelling a high-risk project as urgent may require compromising some of the accuracy, and this must be addressed with a fine-tuned risk analysis. However, a recurring problem is labelling as urgent without evaluating the impact of the possible consequences (collateral damage) of the decisions. In my opinion and experience, it is essential to distinguish between urgency and improvisation. The key: a robust technical and financial analysis of the risks.
-
Balancing urgency with geological accuracy requires a careful approach that combines technical skills with essential soft skills. For instance, problem-solving and prioritization are crucial in breaking down complex tasks, which helps in focusing on the most critical elements of the project first. When facing a tight deadline, I break the project into manageable pieces, identifying high-priority areas that directly affect the project's outcome. This way, I ensure that essential aspects receive accurate attention while less critical ones are managed efficiently or revisited if time allows.
-
Balancing urgency with accuracy depends on many factors. For instance, your team's understanding and endeavor for doing the best they can, eventually will accelerate their doing for tasks with the required accuracy, good planning always plays the main role taking into account Quality assurance.

-
When a report is finished read it one more time word by word. I always check local geology maps to be sure it cores with mapped geology, if not go back over field notes. And last but not least, a peer review is essential. Famous last words of some people I’ve known “my reports don’t need editing”. EVERYONE’s reports need editing.

First goal to achieve 80 ℅ completion of total volume of work. After that we proceed to the remaining work based on the best accessibility of work completion.
