Change your environment. I discovered if I go for a walk, clear my mind, and then come back to a selected project it’s easier to shift focus. It helps if you have already completed some of the writing, then the tone is already been established. When a new writing project comes before me, I will make a bunch of notes, carefully taking into consideration, who will be reading the work. If you know who the intended copy is for, then you can pretty much figure out how to establish an effective readable tone.

This can be fun, I keep a selection of avatars on my desk, a teddy bear, an elephant and a Holy Hobbie doll, when I need a different voice I speak to a different doll, it plays to my childhood and it works.
