I think the biggest approach is to not panic or over react. There are so many scenarios that it is impossible to offer suggestions, other than don't panic, and look at what has the least impact and fasted solution to maintain the production.

I have the best results are when I plan ahead and anticipate challenges before they arise and hopefully avoid many of them all together.
