À propos
The Resilience, Sustainable Energy and Marine Biodiversity Programme for Caribbean Overseas Countries and Territories (RESEMBID), is funded by the European Union (EU), and is being implemented by Expertise France in collaboration with the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), World Bank. The Programme is implemented throughout the twelve Caribbean Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs), namely: Anguilla, Aruba, Bonaire, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Curaçao, Montserrat, Saint Barthélemy, Saba, Sint Eustatius, Sint Martin, and Turks and Caicos Islands. The Prime Minister of Sint Maarten has been designated Regional Authorizing Officer (RAO) for the 11th European Development Fund Caribbean Regional Programme, and as such represents the 12 Caribbean OCTs, vis-à-vis the EU. The RAO liaises with national authorities and other stakeholders of the Caribbean OCTs, and plays a key role in information-sharing and knowledge management. The RESEMBID team is based in Sint Maarten, and is supported by Expertise France from Headquarters in Paris, France. The overall objective of the Programme is to support the sustainable human development efforts of the Caribbean OCTs. The programme is built on three pillars: Sustainable Energy, Marine Biodiversity, and Resilience – each having clearly defined operational objectives as follows: - Sustainable Energy: To increase energy efficiency of infrastructures with high impact on energy consumption. - Marine Biodiversity: To improve protection and sustainable management of marine biodiversity in OCTs. - Resilience: To increase the resilience of Caribbean OCTs to adapt to extreme and recurrent natural events (cross-cutting component). The Programme also administers a fast-tracked €10 million financing mechanism known as the RESEMBID COVID-19 Resilience Response Facility, that supports the OCTs in their efforts at managing and responding to the impact of COVID-19.

End of the project? No way! Well, it's just the end of one chapter under the RESEMBID programme. A funding programme which has helped us immensely in fine-tuning our Conch culturing efforts and outreach. Let's celebrate these achievements together! This is an open invitation to join us December 19th from 5 PM to 9 PM at Hofi Sorsaka (please do RSVP with us first 😁) where we will look back on a successful project and look forward to our upcoming plans. This is your chance to meet the teammembers, talk to other marine conservation enthusiasts, and contribute to the future of Conch culturing on Curaçao. Hope to see you there! 🐚 Curaçao Sea Aquarium #Curaçao
