Founded in 1904, with headquarters in Paris, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) is a non-profit making association. It brings together over than 237 national motoring and sporting organisations from 142 countries on five continents. Its member clubs represent millions of motorists and their families. One of the core responsibilities of the FIA is the development of motor sport worldwide. Through its national member clubs the FIA is involved in every level of motor sport and its remit extends to the millions of amateurs and professionals who enjoy motor sport in all of its variety. The FIA has been dedicated to representing the rights of motoring organisations and motor car users throughout the world via campaigns and activities that defend their interests. On issues such as safety, mobility, the environment and consumer law the FIA actively promotes the interests of motorists at the United Nations, within the European Union and through other international bodies. The FIA is also the governing body for motor sport worldwide. It administers the rules and regulations for all international four-wheel motor sport including the FIA Formula One World Championship, FIA World Rally Championship, FIA World Endurance Championship, FIA World Touring Car Championship and FIA World Rallycross Championship.

Congratulations to the Automóvil Club del Ecuador ANETA for receiving the FIA President’s Road Safety Award last week in Kigali, Rwanda. Their project “UNIDAD VIAL DE EDUCACIÓN, SEGURIDAD VIAL Y MOVILIDAD SOSTENIBLE” received this year’s Road Safety award at the General Assemblies in Kigali, Rwanda. The project is a mobile classroom, which provides road safety and sustainability training for 6-16 year olds. In 2023 alone, the Club trained nearly 26,000 students through the programme. Congratulations to the Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation for receiving the FIA President’s Climate Action Award last week in Kigali, Rwanda. Their project, SAMF & Saudi F1 Sustainability, aims to drive more sustainable outcomes during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. Last week, we recognised the winners of the 2024 FIA Innovation Challenge at our General Assemblies week in Kigali, Rwanda. With 44 creative projects submitted by Member Clubs across our four Mobility Regions, the global challenge highlighted outstanding contributions to growth, knowledge, and experience-sharing throughout our network. Their project, “Motorsport for People: INCLUSION-E”, is a state-of-the-art simulator, incorporating ergonomic and cutting-edge technologies to reduce barriers to motorsport. Automobile Club d'Italia received the Heritage Cup for their work on the circuit of Monza, while Azerbaijan Automobile Federation received the Heritage Promotion Cup for their Classic Car exhibition. The FIA hosted its General Assemblies in Kigali, Rwanda yesterday. Opened by H.E. Paul Kagame, the President of the Republic of Rwanda, this year’s meeting focused on the Federation’s vision for the future - strong financing, improved processes, and a celebration of the FIA President's Awards. Members also voted on the locations for the Federation’s upcoming General Assemblies - confirming plans for Delegates to visit Macau and Tashkent in 2025. Thanks to robust financial government and efficiencies in the Federation creating a sustainable model, the FIA’s financial results for 2024 are marked by a significant reduction in operating costs driven by an increase in revenues and savings.
