What is a City-to-City Exchanges❓ We allow cities to exchange with one or two cities of their choice on specific policy challenges related to sustainable urban development within Cohesion Policy. These exchanges aim to enhance capacity through peer learning. Urban practitioners sharing knowledge with the applicant cities. Up to 3️⃣ visits within five months, choosing to either travel to a peer city or host them. Each visit lasts between two to five days. 🚀 We’ve just wrapped up Capacity Building Peer Review 6 in Basso Piave, Italy! Over an intensive two-day event, our three cities under review, supported by their peer reviewers and EUI experts, tackled key challenges in implementing their Sustainable Urban Development (SUD) strategies. 💡Through workshops, plenary sessions, and spirited discussions (fueled by Italian espresso ☕), the cities under review developed concrete actions to take back home. Here’s a glimpse of what Vukovar, Croatia, plans to do to address their three challenges: 1️⃣ Fostering better collaboration: 🔹Organizing internal team-building events to strengthen ownership among administrative departments. 🔹Presenting project needs and benefits to political leadership to boost awareness and support. 2️⃣ Improving indicators for monitoring: 🔹Adopting the SMART principle to create precise, actionable metrics. 🔹Exploring artificial intelligence as a tool to develop multi-sectoral indicators. 3️⃣ Enhancing citizen participation: 🔹Clearly defining the stakeholders and project scope for discussions. 🔹Inviting citizens to visit and engage with the actual project. 🇮🇹Day 1 of the EUI Peer Review 6 in Jesolo, Italy wrapped up! 🤗 This is the start of our exciting 2-day event, bringing together urban practitioners from 9 EU Member States. 🌍 The representatives of our three cities under review - Basso Piave Urbano (IT), Vukovar (HR) and Plzeň (CZ) - could benefit from the extensive experience of our many peer reviewers and our EUI experts team and discuss how to improve their sustainable urban development strategies. 🧠 Today we discussed the challenges related to cooperation among cities’ departments and monitoring of achievements.
