Reaching for the clouds and beyond... ☁ Laser processing and more specifically, surface engineering is at the core of ALPhANOV’s identity. This is how we were able to show our expertise in the first place. Year after year, our team members have pushed the limits of what photonics can do. We have developed new laser processing for machining new materials, with ever more complex shapes and challenging scales. ✨ This demonstration piece is the legacy of this unique know-how. Each side of this tower is made up of samples of materials and processing that we are able to produce, and which have enabled spectacular advances in terms of productivity, quality of finish and, more broadly, have transformed many industries. La formation photonique à l’ère du numérique 🥽 Le Projet PhOENIX, dédié au développement d’outils numériques innovants pour la formation en photonique, est dans sa deuxième année de déploiement. Le projet repose sur une étroite collaboration avec les utilisateurs, qui participent activement à ces développements pour répondre spécifiquement à leurs besoins et aux réalités du terrain. ⚙ Des modules de réalité virtuelle, ainsi qu’un exerciseur en version de démonstration ont été développés et plus de 918 utilisateurs ont déjà expérimenté les solutions déployées. A new example of collaboration between ALPhANOV and XLIM 🤝 In an article entitled “1.8mJ pulses at 1560nm based on a 55μm core pure-erbium-doped VLMA fiber” published in Optics Letters, team members of ALPhANOV and XLIM present a study on the innovative use of the powder in suspension synthesis method to fabricate a double-clad fiber doped solely with erbium. Can laser sintering enhance the conductivity of printed metal traces ❔ In an article published on IEEE, team members of CTTC: Centre de Transfert de Technologies Ceramiques, XLIM and ALPhANOV have investigated laser sintering of metal traces printed with nScrypt technology on a PEKK substrate, achieving a DC conductivity of 12.7% of silver's bulk conductivity in a shorter time than conventional thermal treatment. Multilayer planar resonators showed a 26% improvement in quality factor with laser sintering compared to no sintering. 🔎 This scientific publication, entitled “Optimization of electrical conductivity of multilayer additively manufactured microwave components on polymer substrate by Laser sintering” has its origins in the LAUNCH project, which ended earlier this year.
