With my experience in BPO, the month-end syndrome, resulting in 60 to 70% of the workload in the last one week is self- inflicted and artificially created by Sales. Any stretch upto 10% is manageable. Few tips to maintain employee morale beyond 10% stretch: 1) Introduce incentive scheme to motivate employees. 2) Analyse if the stretched work is because of ineffective shift- scheduling misaligned with hourly volume inflow. 3) Skill matrix to ensure multi-skilling and intra-shift redeployments to reduce the burden to few. 4) Apply Lean Methodology - Eliminate, Combine, Reduce & Automate to improve efficiency 5) Finally, if the stretch is regular, revisit the capacity plan and seek additional resources, or else you will lose them soon.
