In the eighth and final video of the special series on the 200th Anniversary of German Immigration to Brazil, DWIH São Paulo interviews Stephanie Dahn Batista, a professor in the Department of Arts at the Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR). The professor shares her first visits to Brazil, as a teenager, and highlights that the country has funding bodies that promote incentives through scholarships and internationalisation programmes. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) will host an online event on February 18, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:30 (BRT, 14:00 to 15:30 MEZ), presenting the CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior-Humboldt Research Fellowship Programme, which supports postdoctoral and senior researchers in conducting projects in Germany across all fields. There are two more calls for 2025: the deadline for Call 24 is May 30, 2025 (17:00 BRT), and for Call 25, November 28, 2025 (17:00 BRT). The programme is open to researchers who completed their PhD within the last four years or to highly qualified academics with a defined research profile who completed their PhD within the last 12 years. The Wissenschaft weltoffen 2024 report by DAAD Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst and DWHZ reveals that Germany now ranks second globally for the number of foreign researchers, surpassing the UK and trailing only the US. In 2021, Germany welcomed 75,000 researchers, with nearly 80% working in universities. Leading countries of origin include India, China, and Italy.
