Wow, April 20th, 2024 was truly a special day. DevOpsDays Istanbul kicked off with an incredible and inspiring speech by Andrew Clay Shafer. It continued with presentations as interesting and informative as his. The highlight of the day for me was the Open Space Discussions. I found myself hopping from table to table, engaging in conversations about how problems I hadn't even heard of were being solved. The day was topped off by winning a small prize from kloia for being first place in the pop quiz. It was a day where I made valuable and special connections. I hope we'll see many more DevOps Days in our country. Also brief thanks to Insider for making it possible for me to attend the event.

"Kubernetes? To pułapka!" tak można podsumować główną lekcję jeśli chodzi o obecność P3 Doweks na DevOpsDays Istanbul! Konrad Otrębski był świadkiem rozmowy gdzie tzw. “DevOps" (infrastructure) engineer był niestety zaślepiony możliwościami jakie stwarzają mu narzędzia, których używa, a całkowicie pomijał faktyczne źródło problemów, z którymi się zmagał. Jednym z przykładów było zbędne użycie Terragrunt - nakładki na Terraform, która posiada m.in. lepszą obsługę wielu środowisk. Ów inżynier chciał łatwiej zarządzać wieloma (>50) środowiskami testowymi dla zespołów którym pomaga. Wszystko to na konferencji... DevOps! Zapomniał o tym, że moduły Terraform, które dostarcza w ogóle nie powinny być używane przez niego, to nie on powinien uruchamiać komendę terraform apply. Tą komendę powinni uruchamiać... programiści dla których on te moduły tworzy! To właśnie jest istotą self-serviced promowanego przez DevOps i to na tym polega usuwanie wszechobecnych blockerów! Takie podejście m.in.: 👉 rozwiązuje pierwotny problem, a więc architektura rozwiązania jest prostsza, 👉 sprawia, że programiści są bardziej produktywni bo mogą tworzyć środowiska testowe bez blockera w postaci Pana DevOpsa, 👉 Pan DevOps może zająć się innymi pracami, ponieważ nie traci czasu na utrzymywanie środowisk. Pomijając w swojej pracy ten niuans ten infra engineer absolutnie niczym nie różni się od admina z lat 90, któremu zakłada się ticket na stworzenie środowiska! ;) Tym bardziej cieszymy się, że takie konferencje jak DevOpsDays Istanbul mają miejsce. Jeszcze sporo oświatowej pracy do wykonania! Organizatorom serdecznie gratulujemy i czekamy na kolejne wydarzenia od DevOps Türkiye! #devops #terraform #kiss #yagni

The event featured presentations and panels with the participation of many valuable experts, both local and international, covering the latest topics and technologies in the DevOps community. 🌟 Particularly, presentations on DevSecOps topics drew significant interest. In addition to topics like Pipeline As Code with Dagger and Policy Management in K8S with Kyverno, in-depth discussions were held on the use of security tools such as SAST and DAST. 💡 Throughout the event, I once again realized the importance of the human factor in the design of our systems. Learning about the key points to consider in Pod Topology Sprints, I gained great inspiration from the experiences and knowledge of seasoned professionals. 🌐 Moreover, I had the opportunity to meet valuable individuals from various sectors at the event and expand my network.
