🌍 Strengthening Social Housing in Kosovo: Toward Inclusivity and Resilience 🏡✨ Kosovo faces major challenges in delivering social housing due to economic, political, and environmental factors-further compounded by the pandemic, urbanization, migration, and climate change. In response, Kosovo, with UN-Habitat, launched the Adequate Social Housing Programme, a long-term effort to: 🔹 Strengthen institutional capacity and coordination. 🔹 Develop a solid legislative framework. 🔹 Mobilize investments, including public-private partnerships. With Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) support, the programme will: ✔️ Expand public social and affordable rental housing. ✔️ Improve housing for vulnerable households to ensure safe living conditions. This 10-year+ initiative aims to build resilience and improve housing for Kosovo’s most vulnerable. WYGC is supporting COWI in providing technical assistance focused on developing a robust implementation system. This involves creating a comprehensive Project Implementation Manual (PIM) and offering hands-on support for selecting, planning, and executing sub-projects-including procurement, execution of works, and ongoing monitoring. #SocialHousing #Sustainability #UNHabitat #AffordableHousing #Kosovo #ResilientCommunities #HousingForAll

Excited to share that our amazing colleague, Ninon Gautier, participated as a speaker at the "License to Operate: Sustainable Ocean Development and the Green Transition" conference this week in Brussels! 🌊🌿 Ninon joined an excellent panel discussing how the green transition impacts small businesses, remote communities, and policy decisions. Well done, Ninon-what an important contribution! 🙌✨
Social acceptance of renewable energy and green transition projects depends on whether the projects have national and local benefits such as domestic energy supplies, use of domestic technology and economic advantages through local value chains. Does foreign ownership play a role in local value chain development and benefit small communities? Could the EU Green Deal help or hinder local communities to develop sustainably within the green transition? As part of the License to Operate: Sustainable Ocean Development and the Green Transition, we will focus on the societal acceptance of the green transition and how it impacts small businesses, remote communities and political decisions. Join us in Brussels on December 4th from 9am, for this joint event with University of Bergen (UiB). Speakers include: -Rolf Laupstad, Berlevåg kommune - Kristiane Mauno Krystad, Arctic Energy Partners - Ninon Gautier, WYG Group - Marte Samuelsen Skogen, University of Bergen (UiB) - Sharon Nytte, Independent Renewable Energy Researcher Moderator: Toby Wardman, Scientific Advice Mechanism 🔗 Join us in Brussels: https://lnkd.in/dGMJ4xKq 🔗 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/deuJAhew #Brussels #EUGReenDeal #SustainableDevelopment #Arctic #Renewables #GreenTransition
