Greece-Holy Spirit celebration Holy Spirit Monday is a celebration with religious origins where people at the time celebrated the new harvest month along with the Apostles’ first mission to preach Christianity among the faithful. It's a day dedicated to celebrating happy beginnings. And because of its meaning, many Christians choose Holy Spirit Monday to get baptized. To our minds, it has remained as a long weekend in the beginning of the summer for people who work with their spirit and not with hands. The day off applies for a big part of the population, schools and most businesses are closed. Here in Corporate Relocations Greece, we are all enthusiastic about visiting the beach as the last few days, the country has been hit by a heatwave! #corporaterelocationgreece

World Enviromental Day-June the 5th 2024 A date that brings together all people from across the globe, engaging them in the effort to protect and restore the Earth. But we all know it that this is a thing we should have in mind every day, in business or in personal life in order to feel we are living in a planet that has a future… Here in a small office in Athens, at Corporate Relocations Greece we have started to speak about it on our meetings. We have all decided that it’s ok to begin with small steps and we know this can become something bigger with time.  We choose to use the public transport instead of each individual taking his own vehicle to come to the office or sometimes we commute with a collegue! We avoid to switch on the air conditiong and when we do we try to make a more concious usage. And of course recycling and the usage of our thermos and food containers is in our thoughts! For today, we decided to take a slightly different approach! All members of the team will gather cloths and shoes that we don’t wear anymore and donate them to the church for those who are in need! Greece-March traditions Corporate Relocations' team has been silent for a while but for a good reason! We have been on a treasure hunt...keeping up to date with the country's updates (mainly New Immigration Law) and finding the "flouri" of the Vasilopita... After New Year’s Day families cut the vasilopita to bless the house and bring good luck for the new year. (Vasilopita= ‘Sweet Bread of Vasili’). When the Vasilopita is prepared, a coin is baked into the ingredients, the bread is traditionally cut by the senior member of the family, and individual who receives the portion of the pie which contains the coin considered blessed for the year. Most definitely one of the most beautiful and inspirational traditions in Greece and the best way to start the New Year.  So, for the Year 2024, in our Corporate Relocations Greece family all the luck goes to our favorite George! (and yes, we were not all there but the pie was cut for all members of the team!) But, since we speak for traditions, right around the corner on the 18th of March we have Clean Monday, that marks the beginning of the Great Lent period for Orthodox believers and the end of the Greek Carnival. On the 25th of March we celebrate our Independents Day, commemorating the start of the war of Greek against the Ottoman Turks in 1821. There is a student parade in every corner of the country, and national flags are flown in front of houses and from balconies. So lucky us we have two long weekends on the way!
