The #SouthernAfricanDevelopmentCommunityRefrigerationandAirConditioning (SADC RAC) association held a workshop in Johannesburg in November. This is Part 4 of a seven-part article. David Botha, the executive director of both the #SouthAfricanQualificationandCertificationCommittee (SAQCC) and the South African Refrigeration Air Conditioning Contractors' Association (SARACCA), also highlighted the #ImportanceoftheCoC, which serves as an official #Certification that a #Technician is qualified to handle certain tasks in the #HVACRIndustry. However, not all technicians are authorised to issue CoCs. Only technicians with the appropriate qualifications, such as those in Category B, are allowed to issue these certificates, which serve as proof that the work has been carried out in compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Speaking at the #SADCRAC (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) interactive workshop in November, Lutendo Ndhlovu, representing the @Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), outlined the programme. This is Part 5 of a five-part series. Ndhlovu emphasised that, moving forward, the programme will work to empower and expand these networks. By providing #WomenintheIndustry with more opportunities for collaboration and professional development, the programme aims to strengthen the voice and presence of #FemaleTechnicians in the #Refrigeration and #AirConditioning sector. This, in turn, will ensure that the industry benefits from greater diversity and a more inclusive workforce. The #SouthernAfricanDevelopmentCommunityRefrigerationandAirConditioning (SADC RAC) association held a workshop in Johannesburg in November. This is Part 2 of a seven-part article. The association works closely with the SAQCC Gas to maintain a registry of #QualifiedTechnicians, ensuring that every individual in the industry is properly certified and equipped to perform their duties #Safely. This collaborative effort is essential in preventing accidents and ensuring that #Refrigerants, which can be hazardous to both human #Health and the #Environment, are managed responsibly. Speaking at the #SADCRAC (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) interactive workshop in November, Lutendo Ndhlovu, representing the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), outlined the programme. The following article was written by Lucio Trentini, CEO of the Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (SEIFSA). This is Part 2 of a two-part series. The key question industry will be reflecting on, and proposing solutions to, is how the industry can improve the cost structures across the #ValueChain to position South African primary steel making in the lowest quartile of the global steel cost curve, increase downstream value addition to claw-back on the local market share and increase value-added exports. Before answering this question, some critical considerations have to be taken into consideration: Read about it here: https://lnkd.in/d-S_XWEj #RACAJournal #DepartmentofTradeIndustryandCompetition #SteelandEngineeringValueChain

The following article was written by #LucioTrentini, CEO of the Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (SEIFSA). This is Part 1 of a two-part series. Following an inaugural sectoral engagement between Minister Tau representing the #DepartmentofTradeIndustryandCompetition (DTIC) and the steel and engineering value chain on 20 November 2024, it was unanimously agreed that in order to arrest the rapid decline in the sector’s performance, interventions need to be as radical and ambitious as deemed necessary under the circumstances. The matter of urgency was also stressed as mission critical in light of the problem possibly becoming harder and more expensive to fix, or potentially, not fixable at all.
