A letter from our founders: To Our Ubuntu Community, Ubuntu was born 25 years ago in a township school where children were hungry, resources were limited and HIV cast a shadow over South Africa’s future. Since the start, we’ve been driven by a simple, yet radical vision - to give South Africa’s most vulnerable children what all children deserve, everything, every day. Today, Ubuntu’s cradle-to-career model delivers comprehensive education, health and psychosocial services to thousands of children and their families, creating life-changing results. All parents want to know, “Where will my child be in 25 years? Will they be ok?” In 1999, the challenges seemed insurmountable. Today, parents whose children attend our school or visit our clinic are hopeful. At Ubuntu, each child receives a plan for their future… Each parent gets an answer to their question. We’ve grown from two people to a team of over 150, serving thousands of children and families daily at our state-of-the-art campus. But the need in Gqeberha’s townships remains overwhelming. Children are still born into more obstacles than opportunities, and there’s so much more to do. We’re more ambitious than ever.
