Throughout October, I had the privilege of traveling across South Africa with the People & Culture team at The Capital Hotels, Apartments & Resorts. Together with our MD (Jurie Bezuidenhout), COO (Garnet Basson), my two HR Managers (Kershia Govender; Andrisha Naicker), we visited each of our properties, spanning Cape Town, Umhlanga, Zimbali, Mbombela, Pretoria, and Johannesburg. These roadshows weren’t just about sharing updates; they were about celebrating our people and reaffirming our commitment to making The Capital Hotels, Apartments & Resorts a place where staff can thrive. At each session, we presented a comprehensive update on staff benefits, upcoming bonuses and increases, plans for our year-end celebration, and the ambitious growth trajectory of our company. These are more than just corporate topics; they reflect our commitment to creating an environment where employees feel valued and empowered. In every city, we were met with enthusiasm and insightful questions, highlighting just how engaged our teams are in shaping their own futures within our organisation. A key component of the roadshows was our Employee Satisfaction Survey, conducted to capture the voices of our teams and understand the factors that drive their motivation. These insights are invaluable as we continue to tailor our People & Culture initiatives to best support our teams. The results were overwhelmingly positive, underscoring the strong sense of purpose and motivation that our employees bring to their roles every day. One of the highlights of our sessions was celebrating the HERO employees within our business. These individuals exemplify the excellence, dedication, and passion that drive Capital Hotels forward. We are incredibly proud of the HERO’s in our organisation who consistently go above and beyond, setting a new standard in hospitality by putting staff and guests first. Our teams’ commitment to delivering exceptional service is reflected not only in their enthusiasm but also in our guest satisfaction scores, which consistently sit between 90%-95%. This is a testament to the hard work, passion, and care that each team member pours into their daily roles, creating memorable experiences for our guests and driving the industry forward. As we reflect on this journey, we are truly inspired by the strength, dedication, and passion of our Capital staff. Together, we are leading the pack, setting new benchmarks in hospitality, and creating an environment where people feel genuinely valued and empowered to succeed.
