💥 Building Advocacy Skills to Empower Young People – Training of Trainers in Nairobi, Kenya 💥 This week, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to participate in a Training of Trainers on Advocacy Strategy Development, organized under the Break Free program by FAWE , SRHR Africa Trust, and Plan International. The training has been both insightful and empowering, equipping us with the tools to drive impactful advocacy initiatives within our communities and institutions. This program is designed to strengthen our ability to develop and implement effective advocacy strategies, particularly in addressing key issues such as child marriage, teenage pregnancies, and gender-based violence. By investing in these skills, we are not only enhancing our capacity as leaders but also ensuring that we can better serve and empower young people in our regions. This training allows us to tailor strategies that address the unique challenges diverse young people face, creating opportunities for their growth and development. On a personal level, this training has been transformative, sharpening my skills in advocacy and strategic planning while also deepening my understanding of collaborative approaches to problem-solving. For Forum for African Women Educationalist of Zambia - FAWEZA, the knowledge and skills gained will enhance our capacity to drive impactful advocacy efforts, strengthen our community engagements, and contribute meaningfully to the Break Free program’s goals. Last week, we hosted a Safer Campus Campaign Dialogue at the Catholic University of Zimbabwe in partnership with SRHR Africa Trust to commemorate the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. We explored how semester marriages can contribute to gender-based violence (GBV) and sexual gender-based violence (SGBV), highlighting why they should be avoided. A few weeks ago I had my last client of the year, SRHR Africa Trust Botswana comissioned me to facilitate at a youth advocacy event for gender based violence in collaboration with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Botswana, and UNAids. I took some phenomenal activists through some of the founding principles of advocacy around GBV+ SRHR. What a wonderful group of young people! I was truly inspired by their dedication, vibrancy and commitment towards human rights for adolescents.

SAT Botswana hosted their Adolescents Activism Awards on Friday, November 21, 2024, at Oasis Motel in Tlokweng, under the theme "Be the Change You Want to See." The ceremony celebrated adolescents driving meaningful change in their communities through creativity, determination, and resilience, often overcoming resource limitations.
