Last year we ran a poll asking which industry would benefit most from AI . At the top of the list was finance. JUMO’s President Joseph Mucheru spoke to Paula Gilbert from Connecting Africa News about AI’s role in fintech. https://lnkd.in/dMwz8eZm #AIinAfrica #Fintech #Innovation

About us
JUMO is a financial technology company that partners with banks, MNOs and other e-commerce players to deliver progressive financial choices to customers in emerging markets across Africa and Asia. At JUMO we connect people to opportunities. Two billion people worldwide have limited access to formal financial services such as borrowing and saving. We’ve built a large-scale, multi-sided technology platform and designed progressive financial choices to reach them. We use their digital footprint to create a financial identity using only behavioural data. Our customers are in emerging markets across Africa and Asia. Most of them are micro and small to medium enterprises who need instant access to finance so they can grow and invest. So far we’ve served more than 10 million customers and disbursed over 40 million loans – and the numbers are rising daily.

Our approach to asset management at JUMO lies at the intersections of optimising portfolio size, enhancing returns for all stakeholders, and upholding good governance with transparency. Head of Asset Management, Jan-Dieter Harder explains how we balance risk and return for our bank partners. It’s an art, and it's no surprise that Jan has been recognised as one of three extraordinary performers in our business for 2024, receiving what we call Supernova status. 💫 #Fintech #AssetManagement #AIinFinance #PredictiveInsights https://bit.ly/48CJJaB

❓Why do we work so hard to integrate credit products into payments systems? 💡It’s simple. The work we do with our mobile money partners has given millions of people access to lending services for the first time. The GSMA State of the Industry Report indicates that 30-58% of people surveyed in nine countries feel that mobile money helps them access financial services they would otherwise not have been able to access. 🔃 Partner-driven transactions, or ecosystem transactions enable mobile money users to access a wider range of products and services. And for mobile money providers, the growth of ecosystem transactions is key to diversifying revenue streams. #FinancialInclusion #MobileMoney #AfricaTech https://bit.ly/3thP1Ep

As the year draws to a close, we're reflecting on the challenges and wins of 2024, plus the excitement that lies ahead for 2025. Our biggest milestone is crossing the $7 billion in disbursements mark! We've helped 28 million people gain access to finance through 210 million individual loans. Our responsible lending practices and research shows that 84% of these people say access to credit to grow their businesses and personal goals has improved their quality of life. Thank you to our partners for doing this important work with us. It's work worth doing. [Sound up 📣 ⬇️ ]

For women in emerging markets there are many barriers to access to finance. Over the years we have refined product design and user journeys to include more women, but there is still much work to be done. Carmia Lureman-Norton our Head of Strategic Delivery and CX shares her thoughts on bridging the gap. https://lnkd.in/dyJJh_jz

Jonathan Page heads up our Sys Dev function which enables us to work at speed. ‘I joined JUMO because I wanted to work for a company which was making a real difference in people’s lives,’ says Jonny. ‘I also love that everyone’s voice is heard and considered. Even someone in a junior position can influence our direction.’ As a manager Jonny’s superpower is helping his team reach their full potential. He’s also really good at what he calls ‘translating human to engineer and engineer to human!’ In his free time Jonny enjoys studying the scriptures, spending time with his family, rock climbing, kite surfing, reading and being a nerd. Did you know? 🕺 Jonny is an accomplished ballroom and Latin dancer! 🍝 If he could eat just one thing for the rest of his life, it would be lasagne. 💡 Jonny lives by this wisdom: stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. #FridayFeature

Africa is now the world’s second-fastest-growing region after Asia, with annual GDP growth rates consistently exceeding 5% over the past decade. However, for this growth to be socially and politically sustainable, it must be inclusive. One of the fundamental pillars of inclusive development is financial inclusion, an area where #Africa has historically faced significant challenges. Today, fewer than one in four adults across the continent have access to an account at a formal financial institution. Expanding access to financial services is critical to unlocking the full potential of Africa’s economy. It can mobilise household savings, attract investment capital, support entrepreneurship and enable more people to invest in themselves and their families. #FinancialInclusion is therefore essential to ensuring that economic growth benefits everyone and remains sustainable. We recently caught up with Jeremy Quainoo, General Manager, JUMO, to explore how fintechs are driving financial inclusion in Africa. In an insightful conversation with Kaara Wainaina, Ag. Director of Strategic Communications at #FSDAfrica, Jeremy shared how fintechs are revolutionising access to essential financial services across the continent. Catch up with the full interview to learn more about how fintechs are reshaping Africa’s financial landscape and driving inclusive growth. -- #MakingFinanceWork #SustainableGrowth #DigitalBanking #FutureOfFinance #EconomicGrowth #Fintech -- Evans Osano, DBA, Anne-Marie Chidzero, Kelvin Massingham, Kevin Munjal, Juliet Munro, Reshma Shah, Kaara Wainaina, Stephen Bevan, Zee de Gersigny, May Yego, Jonathan Israel, Mary Kashangaki, Dorothy Maseke ,CFIRM, Joseph Mucheru, Wilfred Wabwire, Leeth Gondwe, Rose Cohen, Andrew Watkins-Ball, Susie Squire, Michael Ball, James Goddard, Paul Whelpton Mark Napier Mary M.
