#ThrowbackThursday Last week, on Thursday, 5th December, the Institute of Change Management Africa (ICMA) officially launched at the prestigious GIBS Business School (Gordon Institute of Business Science). What a truly historic moment it was! While we had hoped for a larger turnout, the passion and energy in the room more than made up for it. The depth of the discussions and the calibre of contributions left everyone inspired and optimistic about the incredible journey ahead for Africa’s transformation. The day began with an energising welcome and introduction by our Founder & CEO, Sean Madliwa, who passionately laid out ICMA’s mission and vision. His words set the stage for an engaging and dynamic programme, leaving us ready to shape the future of change leadership in Africa. Keynote Address #1: "The Future of Human-Centred Artificial Intelligence in Africa" Delivered by Dr. Mark Nasila, this keynote reminded us of the untapped potential within Africa. Dr. Mark Nasila’s thought-provoking insights challenged us to embrace bold leadership and leverage innovative technologies to redefine the future of our continent. Panel Discussion #1: "Leading through Innovation: Women at the Forefront of Digital Transformation in Africa" Moderated by Lerato Ditshego, this panel featured remarkable change leaders, including Andisa Liba, Nomonde White-Ndlovu, and Phokeng Mogase. Together, they shared powerful success stories, discussed challenges, and celebrated the strides women are making in driving digital transformation across Africa. Keynote Address #2: "Change Leadership: The Building Block of Adaptive Organisations for Africa’s Future" Presented by Marlinie Ramsamy, this keynote was a masterclass in agility. With grace and creativity, Marlinie physically illustrated the FranklinCovey South Africa Change Leadership Model—a demonstration that inspired everyone to see change leadership as an art and a science. Panel Discussion #2: "Revolutionising Human Capital: Strategies for Transformative Organisational Growth" Moderated by Nomazibulo Tshanga M.Inst.D, the panel featured Antoinette Roberts Saul Symanowitz, and Themba Chakela. This session explored transformative strategies for enterprise growth, organisational culture, and innovation, leaving the audience with actionable insights.
