DEMCA ACTUATION SOLUTIONS has received orders for various sites from the City of Cape Town to replace faulty actuators supplied on de-gritter flush valves. DEMCA ACTUATION SOLUTIONS selected the PS Automation GmbH PSQ-E Actuators from their range of actuators, due to the existing power and control wiring, as well as the reliability and robustness of the actuator - which is particularly suited to the harsh environmental conditions. Although not a requirement of this particular application, the PSQ-E Range is supplied as standard as a modulating unit, capable of up to 1200 starts per hour. The City of Cape Town is currently investing in increasing their water treatment capacity, and in the 40 + years that DEMCA ACTUATION SOLUTIONS has been a service provider to the City, preventative maintenance has always been a priority. The series of photo's tell the story of Greatork actuators supplied in 2012 to the Athlone Waste Water treatment works. The extremely corrosive nature of the environmental conditions necessitates that "cosmetic" servicing be carried out every few years - and if necessary, mechanical or electrical. In the case of these actuators, they have been installed for a period of 12 years without mechanical failure. DEMCA were approached by the City to provide our standard servicing for the DAS AVA Range of intelligent Multi-turn actuators which includes shotblasting and spray-painting, replacement of seals, oil and mechanical and electrical testing. (Not a 2 minute job) SO WHAT DOES THE END USER DO DURING THE TIME THAT SERVICING IS REQUIRED? Well.. DEMCA ACTUATION SOLUTIONS have seen the need that exists for the provision of Super-Subs during the required servicing. Based on our knowledge and experience of actuation applications we can now provide valued customers with a substitute unit so that there is no interruption to their process.
