🌍 **Join the conversation shaping the future of internet rights and freedoms in Africa!** We invite you to be part of a landmark event as we mark the 10th Anniversary of the African Declaration on Internet Rights and Freedoms at the African Investigative Journalism Conference (AIJC) on 30 October 2024. This is more than a reflection on the past decade - it’s an opportunity to actively contribute to the future of digital rights across the continent. The African Declaration has been instrumental in setting the standards for internet freedoms and digital rights across Africa, championing human rights in the digital era. This session will not only highlight the Declaration's successes and challenges but also engage participants in shaping the policy frameworks needed for the digital age. With the rise of new technologies, AI, and the continued expansion of digital access, it’s critical that we ensure internet governance frameworks are forward-looking, inclusive, and grounded in human rights. 📍 **Location:** Percy Qoboza Room, Wits University 🕓 **Time:** 16:40 CAT 🔑 Whether you’re a digital rights advocate, journalist, policymaker, or simply passionate about the future of the internet, this is a conversation you won’t want to miss. 📌 The 'Access to Information (ATI) Advocacy Campaign', forms part of the NMT Media Foundation's mandate to inform, educate and capacitate Namibians on issues that affect them directly. 🗳️ Under the New Voices, New Narratives in Public Policy Discourse (EU Funded) project, in partnership with the DW Akademie and the Institute for Public Policy Research; we hosted our first Activation at the NUST campus on October 17th, focusing on ATI around elections - with the aim of ensuring that the electorate, especially the youth, are informed during this crucial time as the November elections are around the corner. We had a great time and cannot wait to see you again soon. 🕺 Don't forget; Information is power, stay informed. 😉 #ATI #youthinformed #elecctions

FACES IN PLACES 📍 📌 The community dialogues are hosted by local community organizations with the support of the NMT, DW Akademie and the IPPR, through the EU funded project, New Voices New Narratives in Public Policy Discourse. The community engagements provide a safe and conducive environment for community members at grassroots to meet with relevant stakeholders and community leaders, and have their voices heard with the hopes that their cries will be heard and that changes will be reflected in national policies. 🗳 This was their second engagement in Uis between 13 and 14 September. Our focus was and is on youth and rural civic and community development. DW Akademie @IPPR #localcommunityempowerment #election2024
