TULLOCH is a progressive, multi-discipline consulting firm providing integrated planning, surveying, engineering, environmental and construction services throughout Canada. We develop infrastructure and resource solutions that build, improve and connect communities. We want to build an organization where everyone loves their job and their leaders care for them. TULLOCH was established in 1991 as a small consulting survey practice with one office and five staff. Since then, we have grown into a multidisciplinary engineering firm providing services to private and public sector clients across Canada and internationally. We complete over 1,000 projects per year from very small projects (individual property surveys) to some of the largest infrastructure projects in Canada. Our strength lies in our diversity of service offerings and commitment to excellence in everything we do and deliver to our clients. As my Fall 2024 co-op has ended, I’m tremendously grateful for the learning and growth I’ve been able to experience as a geotechnical engineering technician at TULLOCH. My position on the Geotechnical Engineering team gave me plenty of experience to get my hands dirty and contribute to varying projects across engineering fields, from borehole and test pitting investigations to field surveying and compaction testing. Additionally, I acquired valuable insights on the world of consulting, both on the technical and collaborative sides, from writing factual reports, pulling together pricing for proposals, and spending the day on the phone with locators. I’m especially thankful to Erik Giles, Jackson Mercer, and the entire Geotech team for their continuous support and for the unique opportunities to step out of my comfort zone and try new things, including solo test pitting adventures, slope stability analysis, and “going alone” in the company euchre tournament. This term has further developed my passion for engineering and for understanding the intricate behaviour of the ground beneath our feet, and I look forward to carrying this experience into school and future work terms.
