About us
The Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) is recognized by government as the voice of tourism. At TIAO we work on behalf of our membership, collectively representing the majority of tourism businesses and employees across the province, to take on pressing policy issues that impact the Ontario tourism industry. We advocate the importance of tourism as an economic driver and job creator in order to serve the interests of Ontario’s diverse tourism industry and business community. TIAO leads the way in government relations on behalf of the Ontario tourism industry, including tourism businesses and operators, destination marketing organizations, regional tourism organizations, and educators. We provide evidenced-based policy recommendations to ensure the provincial government understands and addresses the multifaceted needs of the tourism industry. TIAO propels the powerful and innovative Ontario tourism industry by connecting tourism leaders, innovators, government, and educators through events and conferences. We are proud to host the largest gathering of tourism leaders, educators, businesses, and government officials in Canada, at our annual Ontario Tourism Summit.

At Horseshoe Valley Resort, we’re thrilled to share some exciting news: we’re among 10 Ontario snow resorts participating in the transformative GreenStep Certification journey, thanks to the innovative program. A six-week initiative, running from September to November 2024, has empowered us with the tools, expertise and guidance to elevate our environmental stewardship. We’re proud to work towards GreenStep Certification, which aligns with global sustainable tourism standards and strengthens our commitment to preserving the stunning natural beauty that surrounds us. What this means for you: ✔️ Reduced environmental impact ✔️ Enhanced guest experiences through sustainable practices ✔️ Long-term benefits for our community and stakeholders Our dedication to sustainability goes hand-in-hand with our love for the great outdoors and our responsibility to protect it for generations to come. A heartfelt thank you to GreenStep, Ontario Snow Resorts Association and Regional Tourism Organization 7 (RTO7) for making this initiative possible and to our fellow resorts for their shared commitment to a greener future. Let’s make this winter season not just memorable but meaningful. ❄️🌍 #Sustainability #GreenStep #HorseshoeValleyResort #SkiOntario #SustainableTourism
