  • Yesterday we gave out over 150 food pantry bags to our community with our Hope for Holidays event at TEAMWork Cooperative and Opportunity Place - Nova Scotia Works! Planning a huge event like this requires a lot of hands on deck, and it’s our team and the people in our community that make these events possible!   • Mentorships are a powerful tool for people experiencing disabilities to gain hands-on experience in professions they are interested in. Seeing a job up close before deciding whether it's a good fit will help job seekers better decide which careers are best for them longterm. In this experience, Marcellus got to see the inner workings of a recycling depot in Regina, and came away impressed at how recycling is handled on a massive scale. Read the full experience below:

This event takes place from 10:00am-1:00pm and will be held at two locations simultaneously: TEAM Work Cooperative in Halifax and Opportunity Place - Nova Scotia Works in Lower Sackville. “Hope for the Holidays” will also feature a Nova Thinkpad draw at both locations, hot chocolate/cookies from Stone Hearth Bakery, music, and the following community organizations on site: 211 Nova Scotia, Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank, and Healthy Minds Cooperative. ***Pantry bags are limited, so registration is required.*** One pantry bag per family.     Very excited to be one of the first individuals in Canada to receive their National Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) in recognition of successfully filling all assessments for demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills established in The National Competency Profile for Career Development Professionals. Thank you to the NSCDA for all their efforts in transitioning Nova Scotia’s CCDP into the national certification program. You're a leader nationally and internationally in this space!! Well done!
