On Saturday, Strum’s head elf Lesley Marshall, and her elf helpers Lee Pominville, MREM, P.Biol., Tom, and Cory put on a family and friends holiday party at the office with a visit from the man himself – SANTA! The children in attendance spent the afternoon coloring, eating pizza, decorating cookies, making gingerbread houses, and watching a Christmas movie. Strum’s Environmental Engineer François Gascon, P. Eng. and Water Resource Engineer Kathryn Smith attended the American Geophysical Union conference in Washington, D.C. last week. AGU24 brought together participants from 100+ countries to share their research and connect with old friends and colleagues and meet new ones. At the AGU24, Frank and Kathryn had an opportunity to increase their awareness about climate change and collaborate with colleagues to drive solutions to better understand and protect our planet. Kathryn who is completing her PhD had the opportunity to exhibit her research on thermal habitat creation in warming rivers at the conference. Congratulations Kathryn on showcasing your work on a global scale. Thanks, AGU, for all the colleagues we met, and the time spent together sharing ideas and research! #StrumProud #AGU24 #StrumEnvironment

In this season of giving, staff elves at Strum are busy rounding up toys for the Move C100-FM Toy Drive presented by Canadian Tire to support the Salvation Army. This is our 11th year participating in this event for children in the area. We hope you’ll help us support this toy drive where a new, unwrapped toy can be dropped off at any Canadian Tire store in HRM, Tantallon or Elmsdale. Help make a difference this holiday season in the lives of children in need. #StrumGivesBack #Move100Halifax #ToyDrive

In addition, to the positive at-work atmosphere at Strum, off-site staff activities are highly encouraged to expand on our working relationships. Recently, the Strum Mechanical & Electrical Engineering team had a fun night out curling at the CFB Halifax Curling Club. Brad Gushue makes it look so easy but it’s a lot harder than it looks!! #TeamBuilding #Curling #StrumElectrical #StrumMechanical
