'Mass timber' was something of a buzz-phrase in 2024, and it continues to strike a chord in 2025. In fact, the Ford government announced in April an amendment to the Ontario building code allowing mass timber construction up to 18 storeys. That went into effect on January 1, 2025. As was the case in 2022 and 2023, the undercurrent of the past year was interest rates. Across eight announcements, the Bank of Canada lowered the policy rate five times in 2024, including by 50 basis points in both October and December. We will ring in 2025 with a policy rate of 3.25%, which is the lowest it’s been in over two years. 𝗪𝗮𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗷 𝗜𝗕𝗦 𝗔𝗳𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘄 𝘃𝗮𝗮𝗸 𝗸𝗶𝗲𝘇𝗲𝗻 𝘃𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘀 🔨 Bij een project in Hoofddorp stonden we voor een uitdaging: de oude gevel moest volledig vernieuwd worden, maar het mocht niet te zwaar worden voor de constructie. We kozen daarom voor 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘀. Die strips verlijmden we rechtstreeks op fermacell platen en werkten alles af met een mortelweefsellaag. Het resultaat? Een strakke, lichte gevel die er prachtig uitziet én beter isoleert. De bewoners waren blij, en wij ook. Minerale steenstrips zijn lichter dan bakstenen, makkelijker te verwerken en hebben een lagere CO2-uitstoot.
