📣 A 7.3 magnitude earthquake has shaken the island nation of #Vanuatu in the South Pacific. The full damage is not yet clear. Communication lines are down, it’s dark, and strong aftershocks are still happening. Early reports show damaged buildings, injuries, and communities in urgent need. Vanuatu is no stranger to disasters – it’s location makes it vulnerable to earthquakes, cyclones, and volcanic activity. ShelterBox has helped here before, providing emergency shelter after Cyclone Harold in 2020 and Cyclone Pam in 2015. We are assessing the scale of need. ShelterBox remains ready to respond. #Earthquake #DisasterRelief

About us
ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity that hand-delivers the emergency shelter and tools families need to self-recover after natural disasters and conflict. Recovery starts with shelter. Having somewhere dry and warm to sleep, to prepare meals and be with your family, is vital for starting the long process of recovery. Our signature ShelterBoxes and ShelterKits contain the tools to transform lives and rebuild communities. We are impatient to see a world where no family is left without shelter. Are you? 🌪️ Yesterday morning, Cyclone Chido tore through the southwestern Indian Ocean, striking northern Madagascar, Mayotte, and northern Mozambique. In Mozambique, over 160,000 people urgently need assistance, and this number is expected to rise as more areas become accessible. We are responding. In partnership with CARE Mozambique, we are ready to deliver vital aid such as blankets, kitchen sets, sleeping mats, and solar lights, with pre-positioned supplies already stored in the country. If you can, donate today to help families in Mozambique and around the world recover after disaster and conflict 💚🌍 Photo credit: Flugêncio Chifuco/Castro Cleiton

🚨 6 typhoons have hit the Philippines in the span of one month. Communities are being battered again and again, struggling to recover before the next storm hits. Our team in Cebu have travelled to Camarines Sur, one of the hardest hit places in the country, to conduct assessments and determine how ShelterBox is able to help. While it's not uncommon for the Philippines to be hit by multiple a storms a year, the frequency and severity of these storms has been unprecedented. Support our work at https://lnkd.in/gpDk4Fts

When disaster strikes, countless people suddenly find themselves without a place to call home. No one expects to be displaced tomorrow, and the sudden change can have an overwhelming effect on people and entire communities. Imagine going through immense hardship only to face a new set of challenges. This is the reality for many -- but together, we can make a difference! By providing emergency shelter, we help restore a sense of security and promote health and wellbeing. Take Nurgül, for example. After losing her home to an earthquake in Türkiye, she received emergency aid and shared how having a tent transformed her life. "When I get in my tent and zip it up, I feel relieved. When there is no tent, the coffee I drink is not coffee. But here, in my tent, my coffee tastes like coffee. Thank you to everyone who makes it possible for people like Nurgül to get the support they need after disaster. Together, we can restore hope and build a brighter future around the world!
