Our new Sheetcast ambassador, Celia Alves, made a really great video featuring Andrew Grigolyunovich, CFA and the Microsoft Excel World Championship.
The Microsoft Excel World Championship was only one out of (at least) four events organized by the Financial Modeling World Cup team in 2024. On December 2-4, three events were combined in Las Vegas: 🟢 The Active Cell (Excel conference), 🟢 the Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge finals and 🟢 the Microsoft Excel World Championship finals. 🟢 The prize delivery to the Financial Modeling World Cup winners also took place on the December 4th. All these events were organized with mastery by a dynamic team out of Latvia. I marvel each time I think of how a small and quite young team managed to put together a masterpiece conducting from the other side of the world. 🤯 Watch out for this team. They just started their magic! Katrīna Anevica Renat S. Toomas O'Brock Andrew Grigolyunovich, CFA and all you team, thank you! #excelchampionship #excel #fmwc #mewc #mecc

The Microsoft Excel World Championship finals was a spectacular opportunity for the Sheetcast team to participate as sponsors in a truly global event. Sheetcast Ambassador's, Celia Alves and Catherine Mondragon MFA, BA met competitors from around the world participating in the Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge. Participants came from as far as Madagascar, Reunion Island, Australia, South Africa, Europe and Indonesia. Michael Jarman, winner of the Microsoft Excel World Championship is now living in Toronto, Canada! 🇨🇦 Andrew Grigolyunovich, CFA, thank you for hosting such a fabulous series of events and inviting Sheetcast to participate as lead sponsor.
It’s Vegas, baby! I just got back from Las Vegas where our team organized the finals of the Microsoft Excel World Championship, Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge, as well as The Active Cell conference. This year the event turned out to be much larger, and much more exciting. Lots of positive feedback from the participants, lots of promises to come back next year. Lots of hard work for us, as these were quite intensive days in Las Vegas and as intensive weeks here in Riga, getting everything set up. Overall I am extremely happy that an online competition I have started 4 years ago has grown so fast and to such an amazing level. Also happy to be waving the flag of our country – not too many times a company from Latvia was able to organize an international event of such a scale. Traditionally, the finals were live on one of the ESPN channels. As for the print media, last year we were in the Wall Street Journal and the Atlantic, this year we were already mentioned in the Economist. Also, the New York Times sent their journalists to cover the tournament in-person. As usual, I had little to no time for taking pictures myself or posting from there, so most of these pictures are coming from our photographer (Obsidian Lens Media) and other participants. I wanted to THANK A LOT all our Financial Modeling World Cup / Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge team members for making this happen - Emils Saulitis, Katrīna Anevica, Renat S., Toomas O'Brock, Lauma Ose, as well as our co-founder at MECC David Brown. THANKS A LOT to all the speakers, players and participants - there are so many of you, that I won't tag anyone, because I will definitely forget others who deserve. THANKS A LOT to our casters and MCs - Oz du Soleil, Giles Male, Stephen Rose, Katrīna Anevica (again :) ) and David Fortin, CPA. THANKS A LOT to the case testers for the final days - Harry G., Andrew Ngai, Emils Saulitis and Ny Tsiory Rakotonanahary. An enormous amount of appreciation from all of us should go to our sponsors - Microsoft, Sheetcast, Order.co, Sigma Computing, Oehm Automation, CData Software, Financial Modeling Institute (FMI), Vertex42 LLC and Logitech for Business. Looking forward to meeting you next year! The Road to Las Vegas starts on January 23, 2025!
