💙 Visiting someone with dementia over the holidays? Thoughtful planning can help ensure your time together is meaningful. Here are the first 5 of 10 tips: ✨ 1. Plan for the right time. Schedule visits during the day when the person is likely to feel most refreshed. ✨ 2. Keep interactions small. Limit social interactions to avoid overwhelming the individual. ✨ 3. Understand their dementia. Be aware of how their dementia may have progressed since your last visit. ✨ 4. Bring children. Children love holidays, and their joyful energy can bring comfort. ✨ 5. Consider bringing pets. Pets can be soothing, but check if they’re suitable for the visit. Save this post and come back tomorrow for the next 5 tips! #DementiaCare #AlzheimerSocietyCanada #HolidayTips #DementiaAwareness
