As we wrap up 2024, all of us at Segal wish you a winter holiday season filled with peace and joy. As another successful year winds down and the holidays approach, we’ve been keeping ourselves busy – and inspired. Our team had fun at Govan Brown & Associates’ Cureapalooza charity concert, enjoying a night of country music in aid of Make-A-Wish Canada and The Stop Community Food Centre. Segal was proud to be a platinum sponsor once again. Our annual toy and food drive for charity was also a huge success, so thanks to everyone who took part. We also celebrated future generations with Take Our Kids to Work Day and a party in honour of the 21 members of our team who took the Common Final Examination (CFE), a rigorous evaluation known in the accounting industry as a pivotal career milestone. Since getting together, networking and unwinding are such a vital part of our culture, we had not one but two holiday luncheons this year! Meanwhile, our Tax Partners have been in high demand. Howard Wasserman presented his Capital Gains Tax and Sale of Business Update at RBC Wealth Management’s Family Office Services 2024 Fall Conference in sunny California, while Daniel Wilson received a warm welcome from the ORAC - Ontario Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Association for his presentation on capital gains at their Fall Forum. Wilson and Segal Tax Manager Joseph Gerchikov also enjoyed being part of an enlightening panel (“Securing Your Future: Financial Preparedness for Retirement and Aging”) at the Schwartz/Reisman Centre. #Segal #Culture

If you hear some loud cheering today, it’s just us celebrating our most recent group of Common Final Examination (CFE) writers. Congratulations to Segal team members Anni Zhang, Ashley Firth, Chloe Chen, Claire Plese, Dhruv Mehra, John Saunders, Klarita Mogilevsky, Michael Lee, Nikita Ganne, Prabhjot Mehmi, Rajan Bhardwaj, Sathusia Sivasuntharam, Shemmy Boussidan, Sherry X. and Yang Liu on successfully completing the 2024 CFE. They join fellow team member Jawad Qureshi, who passed the CFE earlier this year. These talented individuals have clearly proven their abilities across a comprehensive range of accounting skillsets and competencies, bringing them one step closer to attaining their CPA designation. An innovative Arizona-based electrical contractor, Esmay specializes in the design, engineering and installation of advanced solar panel systems.
