Our Long-term Care and Retirement Villages thrive with a strong family culture.
About us
Canadian owned and operated, Schlegel Villages manages high quality long term care and retirement Villages across Ontario. Our Villages benefit from the Schlegel family having over 70 years of direct experience co-owning, managing and operating Long Term Care and Retirement Communities in Ontario. The Schlegel Family’s overarching mission is to build and strengthen community. One very important and tangible way of building community is by providing care and quality of life for older adults, which we have been doing for 70 years. Our central belief is that elders should be kept at the centre of our communities, not relegated to the periphery. The Villages we create are places where elders can live a life of meaning and purpose while continuing to stay connected and contributing to the broader community. Our memory care and assisted living team put together the most amazing Christmas celebration today for the team and the residents filled with games, food, music and a whole lot of smiles! I won’t even pretend I had anything to do with this act of joy, it was all the frontline teams idea, effort and hard work to put together an entire afternoon of fun for the neighbourhoods. I have never been more proud of their inclusivity, passion, joy and authentic relationships with our residents and their families. Way to go Schlegel Family! They have hearts of pure gold ❤️

Empowering women and strengthening senior care! We're honoured to be part of Achēv's 'Workforce Pathways for Women in Senior Care' program, supporting immigrant and racialized women in accessing meaningful career opportunities. Programs like these truly transform lives and communities. #SeniorCare #Empowerment #Partnerships
Today, Achēv welcomed the Honourable Natalia Kusendova-Bashta, MPP, Ontario’s Minister of Long-Term Care & MPP for Mississauga Centre to celebrate our “Workforce Pathways for Women in Senior Care” program along with clients, employers, partners, staff, and graduates of the program. This free employment program offers a solution to upskill and place immigrant and racialized women in the Greater Toronto Area into sustainable careers in the senior care sector. The program includes 4 weeks of online skills training, 12 weeks of paid work placement leading to employment, and on-the-job support for the duration of the work placement. Thank you to our program partner, the Ontario Retirement Communities Association (ORCA), our employer partner Seasons Retirement Communities, as well as Schlegel Villages and the Mississauga Chapter of the Canadian Association of Retired Persons - CARP for joining us. This program is generously funded by the Ontario Government’s Skills Development Fund (SDF) led by MLITSD Minister, the Honourable David Piccini. Thanks to this funding, more than 120 women are getting access to meaningful, life-changing employment opportunities. #WorkforceDevelopment #SkillsDevelopment #Prosperity #MississaugaCentre Tonie Chaltas, Moya MacKinnon, Kristen Neagle, Heather Brothers

Through a partnership with Nelson High School’s Health and Wellness Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program, The Village of Tansley Woods welcomed students exploring careers in healthcare. Students toured the Village, met residents like Carolyn, and brainstormed creative engagement ideas—opening their eyes to the rewarding possibilities within the seniors living sector. For some, like Hitva and Cassie, the visit helped solidify their desire to pursue a healthcare path. At a time when the demand for healthcare workers has never been greater, these partnerships inspire the next generation of caregivers. We donated over one thousand dollars worth of items collected by our group for the residents of the Village of Taunton Mills, a Long-term Care facility in Whitby items such as clothes, personal care items, and craft activity materials. In Islam, the elderly are considered a blessing from God and are to be treated with respect and honor. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, "He is not one of us who does not have mercy on young children, nor honor the elderly". Thank you to Farah for organizing this project. We appreciate you taking a few of us around the facility. It was a humbling experience, as we met individuals, each with their own unique story, a lifetime of experiences, triumphs, and challenges. Life is fragile, and in the gentle faces of these seniors, we are reminded of the importance of kindness, connection, and compassion. We hope that our small gestures bring comfort, joy, and a sense of belonging to those who have so much wisdom to share. Each moment is a reminder to cherish what we have, and to remember that we are all part of one larger story, one that spans generations. #respectelders #givingback
