About us
The Mint is a for-profit Crown Corporation with a mandate to produce circulation and non-circulation coins (for Canada and other countries), manage the domestic coinage system, and provide advice to the Minister of Finance on all matters related to coinage. It also extends to the production and marketing of bullion and related refinery products and services for profit. Legislation which establishes the Mint is clear that the corporation is to conduct its businesses "in anticipation of profit". That fundamental object has shaped the history of the Mint.

Last week, our defence team hosted leaders in commemoration, students and members of the Royal Canadian Armed Forces at a Future of Commemoration Conference. There, together with the Royal Canadian Mint and Members of Parliament Anita Vandenbeld & Marie-France Lalonde, we were proud to unveil a special collectors' coin made to recognize 80 years since the ending of the Second World War. Thoughtfully included in the design by Neil Hamelin is a scene depicting Canadian solidiers receiving a heroes welcome by Dutch people after five hard years of occupation. Commemorative efforts like these bring the past into the present, where we can continue to tell the stories of those who ensured our freedom. The Royal Canadian Mint has released a collectible dinosaur coin featuring Regaliceratops peterhewsi — a horned dinosaur on display in our Museum! Regaliceratops (“royal horned face”) refers to the crown-like projections around its head, and peterhewsi honours the geologist who found this dinosaur in 2005. The coin’s illustration is by Canadian palaeoartist Julius Csotonyi. Our Dr. François Therrien provided scientific consultation. For more information, or to purchase a coin, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gUgvrc9H We recently installed a display in our lobby to show the coin to our visitors. Have you seen Regaliceratops in person? 🎨: Julius Csotonyi

This isn't your average toonie. This one-of-a-kind coin was designed by four Inuit artists—Tegan Voisey, Thomassie Mangiok, Charlotte Karetak, and Mary Okheena—each representing their own region of Inuit Nunangat.
