Pancreatic cancer has taken too many lives, too quickly. We're dedicated to changing the odds #SurvivalNotSympathy

About us

PCCF was founded in 2006, since then it has invested nearly $4 million in research at cancer centres across Canada. In 2016, PCCF’s Board of Directors approved funding for a multi-year, multi-million-dollar research project; the first Canadian Pancreatic Cancer Oncology Network (PANC ONE), lead by Dr. Steven Gallinger, is a research collaborative of the leading pancreatic cancer scientists from across Canada. PCCF is dedicated to raising funds for pancreatic cancer research, awareness, education and advocacy in Canada, with the goal of improving overall patient survival rates and creating a brighter future for those affected by pancreatic cancer.

  • "The real issue isn’t whether it’s possible to improve outcomes – it’s that we haven’t yet prioritised pancreatic cancer enough to make it happen." Our CEO, Michelle Capobianco recently spoke to the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) about the importance of early detection and how it can lead us out of the global pancreatic cancer crisis we're currently facing. Read more through the link below: https://bit.ly/3ZzNzi9

With a five-year survival rate of just 13%, the need for early detection and innovative research has never been more urgent. Michelle Capobianco, CEO of Pancreatic Cancer North America, highlights the critical importance of increasing funding and prioritising research to improve early detection and treatment options. Drawing from successes in other cancers like breast and prostate, Michelle believes that with the right focus, we can change the narrative for pancreatic cancer. https://bit.ly/3ZzNzi9

  • Early detection of pancreatic cancer can mean the difference between life and death, but diagnosing it in its early, more treatable stages remains a significant challenge. That’s why we are proud to invest in Dr. Eugene Koay’s innovative research project to address this challenge by using AI to combine diagnostic imaging and blood-based biomarkers. In our latest blog post, Dr. Koay shares what makes the study unique and its potential for identifying new methods for diagnosing pancreatic cancer at earlier stages. • For patients facing a diagnosis like pancreatic cancer, where quality of life and pain management are paramount, the ability to make personal, autonomous decisions about their care is critical. We are deeply concerned that the Alberta government is considering significant changes to the province’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) program, including reforms that would allow family members to contest an approved plan. These changes could profoundly impact pancreatic cancer patients, as well as the way health care professionals provide care. We encourage all community members in Alberta to participate in the survey below by December 20th, to ensure that patients with pancreatic cancer continue to have the right to choose: https://bit.ly/4ipjpXD

  • Making a gift of securities is a meaningful way to support Canadians affected by pancreatic cancer. By donating stocks, bonds, or mutual funds, you can avoid capital gains tax and receive a tax receipt for the fair market value of your gift. It’s a simple yet impactful way to help us demand survival, not sympathy for the thousands facing this disease. Learn more on our website: https://lnkd.in/g-eqQHNy

  • #GivingTuesday is a global movement to do better for each other through acts of generosity. This year, it comes during a global pancreatic cancer crisis - the number of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer is increasing each year, but the survival rate has not improved beyond 10%. Your gift can help us to collectively demand better for pancreatic cancer patients and their families. Every donation made between today and the end of December will be matched (to a maximum of $20,000). Give today: https://bit.ly/4idNj0R
