Last week, we hosted delegates from New Brunswick, including Skills Trades New Brunswick, Skills Canada New Brunswick, MAP Strategic Workforce Services, and various representatives from the New Brunswick government, along with the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency. The event focused on how we can continue to promote skilled trades as a vital sector and showcased the work being done in Nova Scotia to advance this important industry. We’re excited for what’s ahead and the continued growth of the skilled trades sector in 2025! 🔧

NSCSC was privileged to join the Cape Breton Partnership Winter Reception, where we had the opportunity to connect with local businesses and learn how increased construction activity is positively impacting the community. 🤝 It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with CEO of Cape Breton Partnership Tyler Mattheis, board members, and friends, as we continue to strengthen partnerships and support the growth of our region. 🌱 A truly inspiring evening! 🌟

Recently our team attended the Construction Safety Member Mixers to celebrate 30 years of leadership in safety. Construction Safety Nova Scotia has always been at the forefront, working to develop the knowledge, values, and skills needed for safer work practices. A big thank you to CEO MJ MacDonald for joining our team and taking the time to engage in meaningful discussions with the Sector Council. Together, we celebrated the importance of construction safety and explored ways to collaborate in strengthening support for the construction industry moving forward. These conversations are essential to ensuring a safer and more sustainable future for our workers and communities.

Yesterday, the Cape Breton Building Trades and their Unionized Contractors gathered at Sydney Waterfront Campus to present a generous $100,000 donation in support of skilled trades programming. We felt great to collaborate on this meaningful initiative, providing logistics support for the gift announcement in partnership with NSCC on behalf of the Cape Breton Building Trades and Unionized Contractors. 🤝 It’s truly a rewarding experience to be part of such a positive contribution to our community. 🌟

It was an honor to host Chris Mann, Relationship Manager, and Tracey Newman, VP of Prevention & Employer Engagement at the Workers Compensation Board of Nova Scotia, at our Trades Hall! 🙌 With the coordination of Rachael McDonald, our Trades Hall Coordinator, and Trent Soholt, Executive Director, this visit was a valuable opportunity to strengthen our collaboration and focus on the well-being of our members. We’re grateful for the ongoing support from WCB and the shared commitment to creating safer, more sustainable workplaces. Together as one, we’re building a stronger future for our industry. 🤝
