Meet Kenji! Kenji is our resident theoretical physicist at NDI’s office in Shelburne, VT. He has been contributing his valuable expertise to us for nearly 8 years. His work spans from analyzing tracking systems (ensuring they meet international standards), to designing a physically re-configurable electromagnetic transmitter, allowing for flexibility in use cases. Outside of work Kenji has a passion for music and contributes to Champlain Valley’s vibrant community through teaching. He plays in several bands around the area, enjoys synthesizing music from scratch, and advises a First Lego League team at the local middle school. Rad! "Working at NDI means working alongside colleagues I respect and trust," says Kenji. "It's being mentored by global experts and finishing each day with pride knowing my work positively impacts people around the world." His dedication to his research is evident, often investing incredible amounts of time to ensure the highest standards. Though Kenji says working at NDI fills him with a sense of pride, it is us who are proud to have Kenji as part of the NDI team. #meetouriNDIviduals #medtech #employeeappreciation

Here’s Why Zimmer Biomet’s FDA Approval for a Cementless Partial Knee Matters... For surgeons, the ability to preserve bone and tissue in patients who only need a partial knee replacement (uni compartmental arthroplasty -UKA) aligns perfectly with key clinical priorities. Robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) systems integrated with navigation—like Zimmer Biomet’s Rosa Knee—are helping surgeons overcome the technical challenges traditionally associated with partial knee replacements, enabling higher volumes and better outcomes. Add to that, data shows patients often return to activity faster and experience a more natural knee feel compared to total knee replacements. Now, Zimmer Biomet’s newly approved cementless partial knee replacement is set to reshape orthopedic partial knee replacement procedures in the U.S. Already a leader in Europe with a 60% market share and a 94.1% 10-year survival rate in over 33,000 patients, this implant offers a compelling alternative to cemented techniques by leveraging natural bone growth for fixation and preventing the potential bone degradation that can result from cemented implants. With the growing shift to ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs) for efficient outpatient procedures, this innovation is arriving at the perfect time to expand the possibilities for partial knee replacement processes. Partial knee was a hot topic at #AAHKS this year and we expect we will be hearing more about advancements related to UKAs in 2025 and beyond. 4 standout takeaways from last week’s AAHKS conference! The insights and energy were on fire! 🔥🔥 ✅ Unis! Robotic systems can simplify these technically challenging procedures. We watched an incredible demo of J&J’s VELYS™ UKA system. Impressed with how seamlessly you can transition to it due to similarities with their VELYS™ TKA system. With its smaller saw blade, efficient real time registration, CT scan-free, Pro Adjust software, disposable pins and arrays, it’s a slick system! ✅ Pre resection ligament balancing can allow you to plan each patient’s knee alignment. We learned more about Corin’s ApolloKnee™ robotic knee balancer, Balance Bot™, which assesses ligament tension through a full range of motion giving you objective data, potentially reducing the need for soft tissue releases and reducing pain. This system stood out as part of their ApolloKnee™ TKA system. ✅ The jury seems out on image versus imageless TKA systems! It really depended what room you were in. There were pros and cons for both. While some surgeons want the added confidence from patient CT images or X-rays, others prefer the reduced cost and efficiency of imageless, accurate, real time registration of patient anatomy. Some surgeons use both types of systems depending on the procedure, Uni or TKA (or THA posterior). The term “personalization” was floating around referring surgeon preferences in this context. ✅ Revision surgeries are on the rise! With an aging population and patients undergoing surgery younger, the demand for revision procedures will continue to rise. While primary TKA and THA surgeries often yield better outcomes, it’s essential to raise expectations for revision surgery outcomes. Robotic and navigated systems not only support higher standards for revisions but can also reduce surgeon fatigue, contributing to more consistent and successful results. The conference was jam packed with excellent presentations! We had great conversations with partners and built new connections throughout the week. This show was organized to the MINUTE. Definitely impressed - we will be back. #orthopaedics #aahks #roboticsurgery #ortho #kneepain #surgicalrobotics Johnson & Johnson MedTech | Orthopaedics Zimmer Biomet Corin Group

That’s a wrap! 🎓 Last week, NDI's Global Commercial Organization completed our very first Clinical Course—a major milestone for our company and our team. Why did we take on this initiative? At NDI, we believe that knowledge is the foundation of successful customer relationships—but to truly make an impact, it must be paired with understanding and collaboration. ✅ This course provided the team with knowledge about essential topics including anatomy, orthopedics, electrophysiology, surgical robotics, and surgical workflows. We could write paragraphs describing how Elsabe embodies the congenial spirit of NDI employees, but we think she says it best: “I have been at NDI just shy of six years, and it has been both a great opportunity and a lot of fun! My fellow co-workers, whether in Waterloo, Shelburne, or Radolfzell, are amazing to work with and there is a lot of encouragement among us to share and build on each other's ideas… There are a lot of cool and interesting people here too. I would never have taken up curling as a sport or tried track cycling at a Velodrome if it weren't for NDI being a big believer in "work hard, play hard."” Her manager, Jim, recalled Elsabe’s first few years on the team as “a period of frenzied creative development [which] allowed Elsabe to try crazy new ideas”. Elsabe’s tenacity and drive towards ambitious goals earned her a promotion Senior Hardware Developer, a role her manager says she excels at. Beyond the talents exhibited within her role, we are also privileged to enjoy Elsabe’s superb event organization skills- something she demonstrates time and again as a valued member of NDI’s Social Committee. It is people like Elsabe who make NDI a great place to work. Thank you, Elsabe! #meetouriNDIviduals #teamwork #whyworkhere #jointheteam
