New Media Manitoba will be closed for the holidays, starting with an early closure at 1 pm on December 24th. We'll be back on January 2nd and ready to serve Manitoba's IDM community for 2025! We can't wait to see what the new year has in store for our industry 🎇

We were excited to have The Honourable Minister of Innovation and New Technology, Mike Moroz, tour StudioLab xR today to discuss how NMM supports, connects, and advocates for the Interactive Digital Media Community!   The Minister took the stage in front of our 24' x 11.5' screen to explore first hand how it feels to be an actor on a virtual production set.   NMM's Youth Ambassador, Olivia W., geared-up in a Rokoko Smartsuit to demonstrate how it captures body motion in real time and translates to the screen.   We appreciate and applaud the Minister's clear commitment and keen enthusiasm for innovation and new technology growth in #Manitoba! Congratulations to Kyle Schmitz of Teenage Astronauts on the announcement of their upcoming game Little Rocket Lab! Today was Wholesome Games' Wholesome Snack showcase presented in collaboration with The Game Awards where Little Rocket Lab was featured as an upcoming cozy game to watch. In the game, you play as Morgan, an aspiring engineer. Transform your childhood home as you build brilliant factories and forge lifelong friendships, then reach for the skies and finally finish your family's dream - your mother's precious rocket ship. Teenage Astronauts is a Winnipeg studio run by Kyle Schmitz and Little Rocket Lab includes work from other Manitobans including Donovan Jonk, who did all the music and SFX, and Trevor Pries, who did tool programming. Kyle is also a 2024/25 cohort participant in NMM's GameBiz Lab, a program supporting new and aspiring video game studio owners. Coming soon in 2025.
