Our very own Kelsey Deutsch, Industrial Surface Chemist was featured in Taproot Publishing Inc. discussing our partnership with the Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation to tackle the challenge of recycling drink pouches. These pouches—like those from Capri Sun or Kool-Aid—are made of layered materials (plastic, aluminum, paper) that are tough to separate and recycle. But as Kelsey explains, innovative solutions could make a big difference. ♻️ A huge shoutout to Kelsey for her expertise and leadership in tackling this complex problem! We're excited to announce a game-changing partnership between the Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation (ABCRC)! Together, we’re tackling a big challenge in the recycling world - drink pouches. In 2023, Albertans purchased nearly 15 million drink pouches. These small, single-serving containers made of mixed materials like aluminum, plastic, and paper are notoriously difficult to recycle due to the complexity of separating the layers. Currently, many of these containers are diverted from landfills through incineration, but there’s no true recycling program in place. This is where the ABCRC and NAIT Applied Research collaboration comes in! Through our research partnership, we’ll explore innovative ways to separate and recycle these materials, with the goal of creating sustainable solutions for Alberta's circular economy. 🌱 Learn more from Kelsey Deutsch, Industrial Surface Chemist below or visit: https://bit.ly/3Zb3Qdk Tag: Michael Chae Ryan Leskiw Sachin Pundir
