About us
The Mcgill Dietary Restrictions Club aims to 1. Offer emotional support; there is a large portion of dietary issues involving social isolation that is often neglected. Offer a way of getting in touch with people having similar problems to spread knowledge to one another. Dealing with these issues can be lonely and often involves a traumatic experience – sharing ones’ stories to gain support and friendship. 2. Offer dietary advice; it is important to follow the strict diet which makes one feel the best. It often is hard to find places, including McGill’s own café, that offers food that can accommodate everyone’s’ needs. 3. Work with McGill’s on campus dining and possibly certain local restaurants to provide safe food that can accommodate anyone with dietary needs. 4. Recommend physical advice; often with dietary restraints, it is easy to neglect essential nutrients in ones’ diet) protein with vegans, vitamins with Crohns, importance of gut health with Celiac, effects of things such as alcohol. Events/activities: 1. Events once every other week 2. Newsletter via blog and/or Facebook and/or email: personal stories, places to eat, support, advice, exchange of information 3. Meetings with food staffs to make accommodations 4. Cooking nights, exchange of recipes 5. Going out for meals together
