Play is not a WASTE of TIME; it's essential to success. Mastrius Founder & Artist, Julie deBoer used to think playing was unproductive until she looked at her art and realized how her childhood inspired it. "I've always struggled to make time for play in my studio because I didn't realize it's POWERFUL IMPACT on my work and my mindset. But now I get it because my unique style is rooted in my childhood and the more in-tune I am with my “inner child” the better outcome I have on my canvas." Is the same true for you? What value does play have on YOUR ARTWORK? Play can be the initiating SPARK for your next masterpiece. Play teaches you to access and develop your IMAGINATION which is your source of creative expression. Being able to set time aside to allow your mind to wander, to dream, and to imagine, can help spark ideas. Play teaches you to think OUTSIDE THE BOX. Exploring different and new PERSPECTIVES is important for your creative process and pushes you to think outside the box - which is what artists are naturally good at. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut, creating the same thing, the same way, again and again. A practice of play will keep your work FRESH and keep you pushing your GROWING EDGES. Play teaches you to LET GO and follow your INTUITION. Most of the time we think logically about things, play opens your mind up to the “non-logical”, it allows you to let loose and let your intuitive inner artist take the lead. This might be the most important value of play because we all get STUCK IN OUR HEADS.
