Modular construction has a potential benefit for home building because you could crank out a lot of the major pieces in a factory instead of on-site. I had a wonderful visit to the Bagot St. construction site of the new building for the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Kingston and other tenants. When it is completed, it will have a great impact on services to our community. Thank you to donors, staff and volunteers at St. Vincent De Paul as well as the Sisters of Providence and the City of Kingston for supporting this project. When I visited the site I heard that a second or third story may go up soon (a great advantage of the modular construction provided by Lodestar Structures Inc.) and I saw visitors from Germany, Texas and Florida watching the construction using local Kingston modular building technology with the idea of bringing it back home. Day Two on site, with more progression allowed team members who had not yet witnessed the Lodestar technology in action, to have front seat to this unprecedented event. Team members who had spent months designing, planning and coordinating the project were able to see it in action. This momentous occasion has created a confirmation for our team that we are creating something impressive and innovative for many generations to come. #abetterwaytobuild

#LodestarStructures sets the stage for SVDP's new Community Hub A monumentous day for Anchor Concrete Products Limited and Saint Vincent De Paul Society in Kingston. Today we commence installation of approximately 34 lodestar structures for the for the long anticipated new St. Vincent de Paul (“SVDP”) community center located at 595 Bagot Street, Kingston, Ontario. In a short period of 5 days we will lay down 34 Lodestar Building structures which will complete the framework for this 16,000 square foot soup kitchen, donation centre, pantry and office space for the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Kingston. Our partners at SVDP have expressed their deepest appreciation for our ability to rapidly construct the structural framework for this community space so that local Kingston patrons can have a safe and warm environment to meet their needs. #abetterwaytobuild #meetingcommunityneeds #collaborationandpartnership

Our President Darrell Searles sits on the Canadian Chamber of Commerce's Housing and Development Strategy Council. The Council's mandate is to advocate on behalf of its members, promote knowledge sharing and networking, and foster constructive dialogues on best practices, with the goal of ensuring that federal policies reflect business realities. The Housing and Development Strategy Council is an advocacy and information-sharing platform for a select group of housing sector leaders from across the country.
