When can an executor be removed from managing an estate?⁠ ⁠ Executors are responsible for managing and distributing an estate, but mismanagement can harm the estate and its beneficiaries. In the recent case Barbieri Estate v. White, 2024 BCSC 1357, the BC Supreme Court removed an executor for self-dealing, favouring certain beneficiaries, and undervaluing estate assets. The court appointed a trust company to replace the executor, highlighting the importance of impartiality and protecting estate interests.
