There was a buzz in Baton Rouge today as district finance leaders from across Louisiana gathered to network and discuss strategies and best practices for effective school activity fund management. A highlight was the keynote from Dr. Anya Bailey Randle, SFO, Executive Director, School Systems Finance Support Services at the Louisiana Department of Education, who discussed the need for districts to protect their schools from fraud and the various mitigation strategies they should consider employing. Diane Allison, Assistant Legislative Auditor and Director of Local Government Services at the Louisiana Legislative Auditor, also stopped by to share her experience in using SchoolCash. Both Anya and Diane are the former CFOs at Assumption Parish and Ascension Parish respectively and were among the first users of SchoolCash in Louisiana. Special thanks to our panelists – John Musso from Zachary Community School Board, Kelly Achord from Ascension Public Schools, Becky Easterling from Central Community School System, Leah Tapo from LAFAYETTE PARISH SCHOOL SYSTEM, and Michelle Puls from Tangipahoa Parish School System – who discussed how their districts are driving cash out of schools and ways they’re mitigating school bookkeeper turnover. And to Kimneye Cox, former Ascension Public Schools CFO, who did a masterful job of moderating the panels. The group also participated in several roundtable discussions covering a range of important topics – sharing the ways they’re addressing issues and overcoming obstacles for the benefit of their school districts. Thanks to everyone who joined us – what a great group of engaged attendees! #EdTech #Louisiana #schoolactivityfunds
